Okay. I realize that the prologue was short. I mean really short. But I just needed the story to start somewhere. I'll put a bit of Kacey's background in this first chapter. (Kacey was Me: in the first chapter) this is from her point of view in case your wondering. (The prologue happens later in the story)

*BUZZ*

I feel my phone vibrate as I pull it out of my pocket.

A new calendar event. "Summer begins"

Its the last hour, last minute, last second of Sophomore year. Summer begins.

"This has been a great year an- *RINNGGGG*

After the bell no one was listening. Everyone just made a mad dash for the main doors. Or any doors in eye sight.

I sighed. Sitting back in my seat deciding to wait for all the chaos to stop. I gathered my things and just sat.

"Are you waiting?" I heard a familiar voice ask, sitting down next to me. It was Ryder.

"Uh.. Yeah. I hate the end of school chaos." I say casually.

He nods looking away. I can't help but wonder what he is thinking.

I stand up not wanting anymore awkward silences but right when I do, Ryder's girlfriend enters the room.

"I was looking for you all over, babe." Ugh I hated her voice. As she started to walk towards him, I tried to slip away. I never get away fast enough.

"Have a good summer, Kacey." I hear as Im about to walk through the door.

I look down trying to hide my face, but I answer anyway "You too."

And with that, I'm gone.

I wanted to say more but there's really nothing I could say. 'Hey Ryder I hate your girlfriend.' I don't think so.

I'm starting to walk home when I hear footsteps. I quickly look behind and see Jennifer waving at me. I smile as I realize she is wearing her swimsuit. Typical Jennifer. She's basically a fish.

"You going to the pool?" I ask already knowing the answer.

"Of course! Aren't you?" We usually do go swimming together but we haven't recently. I used to love to swim, but know I have drifted away from it.

"No. I'm just going home to be a loner."

"Whatever." She says jokingly while rolling her eyes. "Oh hey. How's Ryder? Still with that stupid blonde?" All of my friends know I'm friends with him but only Jennifer knows how I really feel.

"Yeah. I'm not sure why he's even with her."

"Well, he should be with you. You two would make a great couple."

"Shut up! There might be people around." I say looking around just avoiding eye contact. She can always tell when I'm thinking of him. God, I hate that.

Sorry for any confusion but the prologue happens later in the book. So Ryder is not with Kacey right now.
