<1 week into summer vacation>
Kacey:
It's 2:15 in the morning when I hear this alarm sound. It didn't wake me because I was already up roaming the internet.
I click on the tab that reads, 'Facebook' and see a new message. It's from Ryder.
Ryder: Hi
Me: Hi.
Ryder: How are you?
Me: Good. How are you?
Ryder: Good. What are you doing
Me: Um roaming the web and eating Cherry Garcia ice cream. Why?
I have a soft spot for Cherry Garcia ice cream. Its my favorite food. My mother gave it to me when I was 12 as a Christmas present and we were inseparable ever since.
Ryder: Just asking.
I pull my long brown hair into a ponytail annoyed. Sometimes he just doesn't make sense.
I just finished my ice cream, so I got up to put the bowl in the sink. Luckily my room is downstairs, across from the Kitchen
When I'm back in my room I hear a knock on the window. Being the paranoid person I am I jump 3 feet and almost scream but then realize its just Ryder. I really hate him sometimes.
I walk towards the window to throw it open.
"Hi." He shout-whispers.
"Hi. I didn't realize we were doing this again." In middle school he would always just show up at my window. My parents never minded.
"I just wanted to talk. Is that such a crime?"
"I guess not." I answer as I walk towards my bed and sit. When I finally get comfortable, I see he has already made his way to my desk chair.
"Monkeys really?" He says when he finally realizes my pajama pants.
"And your much better? Iron Man?" I say sticking out my tongue.
I'm about to go back to my laptop when he suddenly says something. "Have you ever wondered how I knew where you lived?"
"Um I used to but not any more. Why?"
"Because I just remembered how I found out your address."
"And how would that be?"
"Um... I looked at your tag on your backpack when we were in 5th grade." He says looking slightly embarrassed. "I know I'm such a stalker."
"And I always thought you got Jennifer to tell you." I say throwing my Dolphin Pillow Pet at him.
"I'm hungry. What kind of cereal do you have?" He says standing up and crossing the hall to the Kitchen.
By the time I get in the Kitchen I realize he already has a bowl and spoon out of the cupboard and is grabbing the Milk out of the fridge.
"Your a pig." I say grabbing his favorite, Pops.
"Nope. Just a teenage boy." He answers smartly taking the box out of my hand.
Right when Ryder's about to pour the milk my cat decides to jump on the counter knocking over the bowl of cereal creating a huge bang when it hits the floor.
"Stupid cat!" I almost shout realizing Dewey has probably woken up my Dad.
"Settle down Sponge bob." I hear my Dad say as he makes his way to the kitchen.
"Sorry Dad. Ryder was hungry so we came to get cereal and then Dewey knocked over the bowl. I'll clean it up."
Totally ignoring me he turns to Ryder, "Hello Ryder. Nice to see you again."
"Hi Mr. Davis."
"Thanks for all you help." I say sarcastically finishing cleaning up the spilt cereal and the picking up the bowl.
"Your welcome" Ryder, always being smart.
"Sorry Dad. Just go back to bed. We'll be quiet." I say handing Ryder his bowl and the milk.
"Thanks Kacey. And sleep a bit tonight. And don't let Ryder stay too late."
"Nice to see again Mr. Davis."
I'm finally back to the comfort of my memory foam pillow and soft, warm blanket.
"I'm cold." I hear Ryder say pulling me out of my fantasy of warmth and comfort.
"Your needy." I say tossing him a blanket.
"Your room hasn't changed since the last time I was here."
"Well I havn't changed. I don't remodel often."
"Even the same pictures." He says taking a picture of us down from my magnetic board. It's my favorite picture. My parents decided to invite him over for 13th birthday when no one else could make it. We were on my roof just talking with our feet dangled over the side when my Dad jumped out of no where with a camera and snapped 50 pictures.
I blush slightly as I open my laptop.
I'm just looking at my notifications on Facebook when I realize something has changed on Ryder's page.
"You broke up with Elizabeth?" I say suddenly.
Ryder looks up alarmed, but answers, "Yeah. She was always hanging on me. I hated it."
"Oh." I say going back to Facebook.
He gets up and wonders around my room, apparently remembering things.
He wanders to my bed and sits next to me.
I look up from my screen and notice he's staring at me.
I forgot how much I loved his eyes. Some people say that eyes are the map to the soul. When I look into his gray-blue eyes, I believe them.
"Hey, Kacey?"
"Yeah Ryder?"
"Can I ask you something?"
"Sure."
"Do you like me?" He asks still not breaking eye contact.
