Kacey:

At first I was surprised by his question. Many thoughts were reeling through my mind. I couldn't actually just go up to my best friend and say 'Hey I think I like you. Bye now!' But I couldn't lie to him.

Pulling me out of my thoughts and saving me from answering Ryder, Dad came to my door way.

"Hey. I'm going back to bed. If your still going to be awake, stay quiet. Don't wake you Mom up."

"Okay. Sorry for waking you." I say standing up and walking to the front door.

"Where are you going?" Ryder says following me.

"McDonald's. Come if you want." I say grabbing the keys. I just got my license and my parents let me use their Volvo whenever I want to.

"I'm coming." He says running out jumping in the passenger seat, smiling like a 5 year old at their birthday party.

"Get your mom and I some coffee." Dad says going back to the master bedroom.

As I put the keys in the ignition, and turn to start the car, Ryder immediately turns on the seat warmer. Even though its summer, its his favorite part of this car. I laugh as he puts my seat warmer on too.

                                                                  ~

"Hello welcome to McDonald's. What do you want?" An annoyed McDonald's says when we pull up to the drive threw.

"I'll have 2 black coffee's, one hot fudge sundae, an-" I start to order when Ryder cuts me off.

"Kacey, can I get cherry berry chi-" He asks poking my arm.

"And one medium cherry berry chiller." I say finishing the order.

"That'll be five-thirty-three at the first window."

"Thanks." I say paying and then taking our food.

"Where do you want to go?" I ask pulling out of the parking lot.

"The arcade but its not open." Ryder says joking.

"Ha-ha. Very funny."

"Fine. Let's go to your back yard."

"Wow. I don't think that's open either." I say sarcastically.

"Whatever." Ryder mumbles back sticking out his tongue. Sometimes we can be so immature.

                                                                ~

"You owe me a-dollar-eighty-nine." I say smiling as I go to the hammock in the back corner of my back yard. It's strong enough to fit 5 adults so once I sit down, I find Ryder right next to me.

"You never answered me." He says between sips of the chiller.

"Um, well, maeybe I don't want to anshwer your queshon." I say with ice cream in my mouth.

"What was that? I couldn't understand you with your ice cream in your mouth."

I glare at him, while I feel my phone buzz in my sweater pocket.

'Hello Kacey. Is Ryder with you? He's not here and I just wanted to check.'

It was Ryder's mom.

"Hey your mom texted me. You should go home. She probably thought you got kidnapped." I say showing him the text. He groans as he finishes off the rest of the chiller.

"Well, I'll see you around." He says getting up and crossing my yard to the front." He lives a street down and a couple blocks to the left, so it takes him a while to walk to his house from here. "Your not even going to offer me a ride?"

"Nope." I say popping the 'p' "You have two good legs. Use them."

"Your mean."

"Your lazy."

"Your pathetic."

"Your stupid."

"Your-Your-" He says obviously thinking really hard.

"Ha! I win! I always get the last word." I say holding my arms up making a 'V'

"Whatever. If I get murdered its all your fault."

"I'll take that risk." I say getting up and walking to the back door. We always keep it unlocked in case someone -*cough* me *cough*- forgets their key.

As I go to the kitchen to set my parents coffee on the counter, I glance at the clock on top of the microwave. It reads, 3:46. I didn't realize I've been up this late. I cross the small, light green hallway, to my room and sit on my fluffy cotton bed spread. I'm about to go to sleep when I notice Ryder's bowl of cereal. I roll my eyes at his laziness, and grab my iPhone.

Clicking on the app, Messenger, I send Ryder a message.

'Your bowl of cereal sitting on my desk proves that I was right and that you are in fact lazy. :P'

Right when I am about to drift to sleep I hear a loud crash. I sit up abrubtly and see Dewey, once again, knocking over the stupid bowl of cereal.

I fling off my blankets and curse under my breath as I walk to the kitchen to clean up yet another mess by my stupid cat.

When the mess is all cleaned up, I throw Dewey out of my room and shut the door so that maybe I can get two hours of sleep.
