Thea was making her way to the home by foot. Walking around the unknown streets of the suburbs wasn’t the wisest idea, but she didn’t care about that, she only had one worry and that was the disappointment she felt. A tear slid down her cheek and she couldn’t wipe it off from the fabric covering her face. She tore her hat apart and threw it on the gray sidewalk. Her face could be seen clearly, with her silky hair tied in a bun. Tears kept on falling as she was tearing the fabric from her hands too. Soon, a black van was nearing her sight. She didn’t pay attention to it, but from it, a creature walked out, with a black robe covering its appearance. Thea still didn’t notice it until a tight grip wrapped around her arm and forcefully pulled her into the van. She was on the edge of going berserk and resisting as hard as she could. She almost got away but the creature called for backup and another one of its kind joined it. They sprayed something into her nose and she “fell asleep”.

Thea's POV

As I opened my eyes, I saw what seemed to be an endless path.  I was surrounded by countless, dark cells. My hands were trapped by chains while two people in black robes pulled me. I coughed for a second and heard weird breathing coming from some cells. It was dark and the floor was wet, and judging by my surroundings, probably from blood. Looking to my left, I saw green shiny eyes. I felt as if all the fear was building up within my throat as I swallowed it away and continued walking, focusing on the path more than my surroundings. Soon we approached giant black doors, alike those from old churches.

“Quid est password?” (What is the password?) a small window opened on the gate.

“Me mordent.”(Bite me) said one of the individuals beside me as the other smirked

“Accepta.” Said the person on the other side and the creaking doors slowly opened.

On the other side I saw a chair in the middle of a round room, with about 20 individuals standing, occupying all of the space. When I entered, they pushed me onto the ground.

“Qua est nostrum vinco?” (Where is our master?”) asked one of the individuals within the room, taking the hood of its head and revelaing its obsolete face.

“Adsum!” (I am here) answered a tall man at back corner of the room.

Everyone kneeled in the honor of his presence. He looked at me, then at his colleagues and nodded his head. They slowly got up and joined the circle. I decided to stay silent after what I saw they did to the things in the other cells.

“Welcome!” said the same man everyone was kneeling towards.

“I know this is causing much confusion to you but it will all be over soon either way.” He said calmly, while putting his long furry brown coat on.

I couldn’t recognize what animal it was made of. I sighed as he noted things to  others as if giving them orders through gestures. Two of them left the circle and grabbed my arms. They sat me on a metal chair and trapped both my arms and legs with chains. They returned to the circle. The tall man stood before me as he took of his brown gloves.

“Do you know who you are?” He asked me not giving time to respond

. “An elf. Sad, isn’t it?” I stood shocked at his words.

“How…?” I didn’t end my sentence as he interrupted to continue talking.

“You see, our human race is greedy, yes. Materialistic. And you elves are just standing in our way to glory, eh. Do you remember when we massacred the rest of your kind, hmm, few centuries ago, right? Yes, but you ran away and that was dramatic! We mustn’t allow even one to survive!” he glanced at  my face which was still frozen in confusion and continued on “How do we know who you are? Hmm, my great grandfather was a general that executed the extermination! Actually, he was in charge of the operation. Yes, in charge. Now, I am here to finish his job. Yes. Don’t worry, you won’t feel a pinch of it. I feel disturbed if I torture a young lady as yourself. But you are not a human being, so the disgust is lessened.  Enough talk, this ends now. “ he said pulling out a BB pistol from his pocket.

As he was refilling it with bullets I remembered what my mom told me before she passed “Don’t hate people..”

I sat there helplessly praying to God that he helps me. I wasn’t afraid to admit my beliefs in him, but I felt there was no hope right now.

“I’ve never asked for much, nor have I complained about what happened, but please help me. My time is not up yet, I am sure.” The tall man looked at me and smiled.

“Any last wishes, young lady?” he asked even though a wish would be futile right now.

In that moment I lost sight of the room. Smoke filled everything and silence prevailed. Soon, I heard gunfire from all directions. Glimmering orange spots appeared every couple of seconds, after the shots were fired. Definite signs of the bullets reflecting from an object. I felt someone trying to free me from the rusty metal. Freedom was finally upon me as I looked at my hands stained with wounds caused by clogged blood cells.  Someone quickly pulled my hand and sat me on something not visible to my eyes from all of the grey smoke.

“You won’t get out alive!” the same voice, as the tall man’s , warned us.

I soon felt pressure on my neck and everything got dark before my eyes.
