Adam's POV
A month and a half later I had gotten a spot to be part of Alexis' unit in the FBI. I was originally in LA for Alexis wanting to pursue music but that didn't happen. I love music and always will keep making music but I don't have time to keep waiting and waiting for a call from the producers. I was sitting in the conference room with everyone else. Alexis was running a little late.
"Why is Alexis late?" Morgan asked. "She's rarely ever late."
"Sorry I am late," Alexis sighed as she walked in. "I had a late night arguing with Natalie."
"Baby girl, what's that on your left ring finger?" Morgan asked.
"This?" I asked as I held up my left hand. "It's my engagement ring.""Engagement?" Morgan asked. "To who?"
"To me," I replied.
"Congratulations you two," JJ smiled. I nodded. JJ grabbed Alexis' hand and looked at the ring. "What kind of stone is that? It looks like it's glowing."
"Moonstone," I replied. "It took me forever to find one and have it cut." Alexis smiled at me. "But it was all worth it."
"How long gave you been engaged?" Morgan asked.
"A month but I didn't get the ring until two weeks ago," Alexis replied. "Enough about all this wedding and engagement talk, okay? Adam and I agreed two years."
"What's the case?" Morgan asked.
"Two couples, the fiancé was found beheaded while the woman had her throat slit," Garcia pulled up the pictures. "All at the Bates Motel in -"
"Glenn Mills, Pennsylvania," Alexis sighed.
"Looks like Adam and Alexis will be our decoys in a couples case," JJ smiled.
"The wife are all Caucasian and the husband are African American," Garcia nodded.
"That means I'll be working with Morgan," Alexis sighed. "Wheels up in ten." We went on out jet and took off. "What do we know?"
"Norman Bates owns the motel," I replied looking at the case file. "Uhm, a survivor said Norman lives with his mom in the house next to the hotel."
"No, that can't be right," Reid looked at Alexis. "Norman Bates mother died ten years ago."
"The survivor found two years ago, suicide," JJ nodded. "She talked about the motel three years prior to her suicide."
"If Ms. Bates is at the hotel, then who's buried at the cemetery?" Alexis asked as she closed the case file.
"So, what's the plan?" Rossi asked.
"Morgan and I will check in at the hotel, Reid and Prentiss go to the gravedigger and dig up that grave, JJ needs to notify the media," Alexis looked at us. "I need Rossi and Adam to draw up a profile. Communication with Morgan and I are via text only. Everyone else is a cell conversation. Normal Bates does not need to suspect anything."
"Alright," I sighed. We started landing as we landed Garcia popped up on the screen. "Anything new?"
"Another couple just turned up," Garcia replied. "Both engaged to be marries. The male is now Caucasian."
"And the female?" Alexis asked.
"She's still Caucasian," Garcia nodded.
"Well, Adam, this seems to be your lucky day," JJ smiled.
"Same rules still apply, except Adam and Morgan have switched roles," Alexis sighed. "Let's just go, alright?" Alexis and I went to the Bates Motel. "This looks really sketchy."
"Really?" I asked. We walked inside. "It's old."
A guy walked in from the back. "Are you Norman Bates?" Alexis asked.
"Yes ma'am," he nodded.
"I would like a room," I smiled. "For me and my fiancee."
"Yes sir," he smiled. "Twelve rooms, twelve vacancies." He grabbed key eleven. "You'll be staying in eleven."
"Our friend has requested we get room eight," Alexis nodded.
"Oh no, my mother had told me to save room eight for last because it's the smallest room," Norman smiled.
"Your mother?" I asked.
"I was told your mother died ten years ago," Alexis replied.
"No," Norman nodded. "I can assure you she hasn't."
"Okay," I sighed. "If you can, we would like to speak with your mother."
"I can do that," Norman nodded.
"Thank you," Alexis smiled. We went to our room. I closed the door. "I really don't like this. It's stuffy." It started getting dark and there was a light tap on the window. Alexis withdraw her gun. She pointed out at the window. "Pull the curtain back."
I did and it was Morgan. "Don't shoot," Morgan put his hands up.
"What the hell?" Alexis asked. She opened the window and let him in. "You were about to get shot by this twenty two year old."
"I'll hide in your bathroom," Morgan sighed as he walked in there and closed the door.
"Time to fake sleep," I sighed as I closed the door. Alexis put a gun under her pillow and laid down with her right hand under her pillow. "You good?"
"I'm fine," Alexis nodded as I turned out the lamp. We closed our eyes. I heard the door open but I stated still. "Freeze!" Alexis sat up in bed and held the gun at the woman. "Ms. Bates!" Morgan ran into the room from outside and grabbed her. The wig came off and they dropped the knife. I turned on the light as the two fell to the ground. "Norman Bates?" Morgan cuffed him and went out. "You wanna say it?"
"Probably the first, weirdest case I'll ever work," I sighed. "You do this every day?"
"Cases aren't the same every day but yeah," Alexis sighed. "It keeps it interesting."
"When would I carry a gun?" I asked.
"Not all agent carry," Alexis smiled. "Reid didn't carry one until I started working with them." We walked out of the room. "I honestly don't wanna work a case like this again."
"You're telling me," I nodded. "I can't believe you put yourself in danger to protect people you don't know." Alexis looked at me. "I know. I know. It's your duty to protect them. You're under oath."
