hey thank you so much!

Chapter Four:

I gazed at the city below for what seemed like an eternity until Annalise pulled me down the field's hill and we crouched down in the grass.

"So here's the plan," she started, "we're going to that building right there," she pointed at a building that was brightly lit.

Candles in the window reflected brightly in the ebony night sky.

"And what's from there?" I asked.

"We'll go to the kingdom," she said, pointing at the castle in the distance.

"Okay.." I trailed off.

We stumbled through the field, careful not to peek our heads too much out of the tall grass in fear we would be seen by some of the civilians.

We finally reached the small house, Annalise stepping in front of me and opening the back door quietly.

We tiptoed in and for a moment I was uncertain if she even knew the owners of this house until she nudged the man sitting in a chair, asleep, clutching a rifle.

"Psst, Dave, wake up!" She yelled in a whisper-y tone.

He stirred awake, groggily rubbing his eyes and making eye contact with Annalise and I, who stood behind her, watching them.

She stood back and next to me.

"We're going to the kingdom, and well, you know the rest of the plan," she said, picking up robes off of the coffee table behind her.

She handed me one, putting on her own and tying her hood up so the shadows hid her face. I did the same, determined to get my real cloak.

"Annalise..." Dave said, Anna turning to face his worried expression.

"We'll be fine," she said reassuringly.

"Just be careful okay?" he said, she placed her lips on his and then released, charging out the door in front of me.

"Do you love him?" I asked.

I don't know why I chose those words. I just sort of... let them come out.

"Yeah," she said.

We hid in the shadows, no one was inhibiting the streets which made it a bit trickier to blend into the ghost town.

"Where the hell is everyone?" I questioned in the darkness.

"Hiding," she said plainly.

"From what?" I asked, it seemed absurd.

"I'll explain later," she said, swiftly gliding through the shadows with me following.

Torches burned maliciously on most of the doors of houses, illuminating our paths.

Soon enough we were at the castle, crouching down before the gates as Anna spied over the fences.

"So what's the plan now?" I asked.

I heard footsteps, making my heart beat nervously until they stopped on the other side of the steps.

"Annalise?" said a male voice.

She stood up, beaming, and greeted the man dressed as a guard.

"Um..." I trailed off, confusedly.

How could she know a guard.

"I told you I have connections," she answered.

I just went along with it.

The man introduced himself as Ross, opening the gates for us as we quickly ran in. It was a simple plan really.
