Chapter 1

I absolutely hate Hydra. If it wasn't for Clint's big mouth, we wouldn't be running for our lives. "Way to go, Hawkeye!" I say, firing another shot behind us. "Hey! I said I was sorry!" He said firing an arrow, electrocuting three Hydra agents after us. "This is why I never do missions with you anymore!" I tell him. "That hurts, you know that?" He said. I fired my gun at another agent. I didn't see the agent hiding and got shot in the abdomen. I hit the ground and Clint shot the agent. "Cap! We need some help over here! Alanna's been shot!" Clint said. Clint pulled me to safety and tried to stop the bleeding. "Get out of here, Clint. Finish the mission." I told him. "I'm not leaving you! Understand? We finish this mission alive together." He told me. "I'm not going to make it, Clint. You know that! Get out of here! Now!" I said. Steve and Bucky were nowhere to be seen. "Go Clint. I'll be fine." I told him. "Just stop it okay. We're getting out of here together." Clint said. "Yeah, what he said." Bucky said, kneeling beside me. "Steve, cover me. I've got to get Alanna out of here. She's bleeding pretty bad." Bucky tells the Captain. "You've got it, Bucky." Steve said. Bucky picked me up bridal style and took off running. The bleeding hadn't stopped or slowed. "Bucky, I'm cold." I told him. "We're almost there, Alanna. Hang on a little more." He said. "I can't. I'm clocking out here, Bucky. I'm sorry you have to be the one to see me die." I told him. "Stop talking like that! You're going to make it! We're almost to the Quinjet. Clint and Steve are behind us." Bucky said. Tony stopped us and took me from Bucky. He flew me to the jet and Bruce and Nat took over. Bruce managed to stop the bleeding and get the bullet out. "We have to get her back to the tower. Dr. Cho can heal her." Bruce tells the team. Clint sits beside me and I put my head on his shoulder. "I'm sorry. If I'd have kept my mouth shut, this wouldn't have happened." He tells me. "Shut up. We both know that I would've been shot eventually on this mission." I told him. He chuckled. "Laura is going to kill me. You and Nat were supposed to go with me to visit them tomorrow." Clint said. "I couldn't if I wanted to. When I heal, Bucky and I have a mission to go on. Somewhere in Russia. I'll have to read the file again at the tower." I say. Nat comes over and checks my bandage. She smiled up at me. "It's not bleeding anymore. You're going to be just fine now." She says. I smiled and Clint wrapped a blanket around me. "Get some sleep, Miss Carter. We'll be at the tower in a hour." JARVIS said. I closed my eyes and feel asleep. I felt myself being lifted up and the cool feeling of something metal. "How's she doing, Doc?" Tony asked. "Just fine. She's asleep and this shouldn't take long. Put her there." I felt myself being put on what felt like an examination table. "Sir, Director Fury would like to speak to Miss Carter. Should I tell him the news?" JARVIS asked. "No. Let me talk to him. Aria should be waking up at any time now." Tony said. "Shut up, Stark. I'm trying to sleep." I said. I opened my eyes and smiled at Dr. Cho. "How are you feeling?" She asked. "Peachy. Where's Cap?" I asked. "Right here. What happened so out there?" He asked, sitting next to me. "Clint's big mouth. As we were running, I didn't see a hiding Hydra agent and he shot me." I said. "Well, it could've been worse. The bullet got nothing important and you'll be fine in a few minutes." Dr. Cho told us. "Thanks, Doc. Makes this feel even better." I said. "Hey Cap?"
"Yeah?" Steve asked, looking at me. "Where's Bucky?" I asked. "He's waiting to see you. Would you like to talk to him?" Steve asked. I nodded and Steve smiled. "Bucky, you can come in now." Steve said. Bucky walked in and saw me. "See? I told you so. You made it."Bucky tells me. "Yeah yeah. How much longer Doc?" I asked. "A few more minutes." She said. I nodded and looked at Bucky. "Truth is Bucky, I would've gotten shot on the mission anyway. I'm always saving Clint's ass when I go on missions with him. Clint and I had a mission in Berlin and I got shot by an agent I didn't see, but I stepped in front of Clint when the agent shot at us. The bullet hit me and this is what I have to show for it." I said, showing Bucky the scar on my arm. "That was me. I was told to take out the guy you two were searching for and saw you two. I tried to shoot above your head because I knew you before S.H.I.E.L.D and didn't want to kill you. Do you remember the Red Room?" Bucky asked me as Dr. Cho shut off the machine and he helped me sit up. "Yes I do. There was a guy that looked like you that trained me as an assassin. Only he wore a mask. He rarely took the goggles off." I told him. "Yes. That was me. Do you remember when Hydra had experimented on you and those kids?" He asked. "Yeah. You were there, weren't you? Watching them experiment on me and those boys?" I asked. Bucky looked down. "I heard the screams and went to investigate. I saw you and those two boys being tortured by that stupid scepter. I remembered who you were from the Red Room and tried to save you. Didn't work out so well." Bucky said. "Oh really? Those two boys died and I'm still here. You saved me from grueling hours of more experimentation. Hydra didn't get a chance to train me when Cap and Tony found the base Hydra hid me at." I said. Bucky nodded and I stood up. "I should probably go talk to Director Fury now. Walk with me?" I asked. "Sure." He said. We walked down the hallway and I hit the button for the elevator. "Upstairs we go." I said. We stepped in the elevator. "Miss Carter, Director Fury needs to speak with you." JARVIS said. "I'll be right there JARVIS. Please let him know." I said. "I will ma'am."
"Thank you." Bucky smiled. "So you have any powers from the experiments done on you?" Bucky asked. "You've seen Wanda's brother Pietro, right?" I asked him. He nodded. "The speedster? Well, we faced an evil peacekeeping program called Ultron. Tony created it, stupidest thing ever. Ultron tried to kill Clint when Clint was saving a little boy and Pietro moved Clint and the little boy out of the way and got hit by the bullets. Pietro died and when we brought his body back to the hanger, I brought him back to life. I have the power to bring the dead back. I also can fly, I have accuracy that almost rivals Hawkeye, I also can change my appearance. Those are my cool powers." I said as the elevator doors opened to the living room of Stark tower. Director Fury was standing by the window. "You wanted to talk with me, Director?" I asked. "Yes. Agent Carter, you and Barnes need to be prepared as soon as possible." I looked at Bucky. "What's going on, Director?" Bucky asked. "Hydra. I know you just got healed up, but they took Agent Rollins, our leading weapons scientist. We need you two to go and get her back." Director Fury instructed. "Yes sir." We said. "Barnes, keep her safe and don't let her get shot or captured or killed. She's a valuable asset to this team." Fury said. Bucky nodded and we headed off to get ready for our mission.
