~Casey's POV~
I'm late! Late, late, late... Then again, what I'm late for is another thing. A freakin DNA testing?? Who would've ever thought I'd have to ask for one of those! Who are they to think I'm even related to Dean Ambrose? Sure, he's well-known and all, but he's the Lunatic Fringe. I'm the high swinging level-headed one. We're nothing alike.
I arrived at the lab in a few minutes and walked in.
"Miss Ambrose!" Stephanie was there to greet me. "It's so nice to see you again." She smiled.
"Hi..." I smiled back, but was too distracted by the man behind her. I had never really paid much attention to Dean before, I wanted to get a good look at him if he was my brother now.
A few minutes later, the test ensued and we awaited the results in the lobby.
"So...your name's Casey?" Dean tried to make conversation as he fiddled with his phone.
"Yep." I nodded, immediately uncomfortable. What if we actually are siblings? That'd be so weird...
"Aren't you going to ask me my name?" Dean asked, crossing his arms and giving me a confused look.
"Well isn't someone subtle." I rolled my eyes and looked across the room. "I already know who you are, no reason to waste time with small talk."
"Sounds reasonable." He shrugged and looked down. "Hey...but what if we're actually siblings?"
Did this freak show just read my mind?
"Look, we are not related in any way. For one example, I have common sense. I've seen some of your matches, Dean, you have no strategy and that's what you call your plan. It makes no sense and that's why you always get the crap beaten out of you. You're title explains you perfectly. Lunatic Fringe. I don't want people thinking I'm anything like you. Especially if they actually let this out to the press." I stated, coldly. I automatically regretted it, as his muscles tensed and his eyebrows furrowed.
"Are you not going to say anything nice at all?" Dean spat, glaring at me. "You're a nobody, so you better be glad if they release this to the world cause my name might actually get you somewhere. Also, you have no room to judge me, little lady. After all, you don't no a single thing except my title and fighting style." His words dug like ice under my skin, but I couldn't exactly be upset. I mean, I did ask for it.
"Whatever." I didn't want to lose this fight, no matter how much I sounded like I was pms-ing.
"The results are back." We both looked up to see Stephanie waiting in front of a door, a grim expression on her face.
I took a deep breath and followed Dean in.
"You're half-brother and half-sister." The doctor stated, looking over some papers.
No. No. No, no, no, no...
Dean ran his hands through his hair, frustration evident in his voice as he spoke. "No. No. No, no, no, no..!"
Dang it Dean stop reading my thoughts!
"You aren't excited..?" The doctor looked confused.
"Nope." I muttered, crossing my arms and tapping my foot. "So what now? We have to spend time together or something?"
"Oh my gosh!" Dean yelled, turning to face me. "You are impossible! I say one freakin' thing and you automatically insult me. You haven't even gotten to know me yet and you're acting like I'm a thorn in your side!"
"That's because you are." I spat, turning and exiting the room.
~Dean's POV~
"Well, I'd hoped thought that would've gone a lot better.." Stephanie commented, shaking her head.
"What do you care?" I snapped, storming out after Casey. I grabbed her wrist and jerked her to face me. "Listen here, miss perfect. We are going to get to know each other."
"Why?" Did she just say that without a snobby tone?? Oh my gosh, it's a miracle.
"Because we're apparently related and we're also going to be working together. So, we need to be able to get along." I explained, surprised I had stayed calm even this long.
"Fine." Casey agreed, pulling her arm free of my grip. "Tomorrow. Breakfast down in the hotel before we go in for work. Say...Eight O'clock." And with that, she was gone.
I exhaled sharply, turned and punched the wall. I really hope she's not so freakin annoying tomorrow.
