Chapter 2
I sit in the same position on my couch, shaking, for the whole ten minutes it takes Maddie to arrive. When I finally hear my doorbell ring, signalling that she was finally here, I practically sprint to the door to let her in.
"Okay so what's this thing that your all in a panic about?" She asks blankly.
"I'll show you," I answer, "Follow me."
I bring her downstairs to the room in my house where my computer is, and we both take a seat in front of the computer. I log into YouTube, and start explaining what happened. She sits quietly and listens, and she seems perfectly calm until I get to with Justine's picture.
"Wait, the picture said what?" She asks, clearly just as shocked as I was.
"Hacked, in big red capital letters," I say, my voice shaking slightly. "I can show you."
I scroll down my subscriptions until I find her channel again, and see that the picture hasn't changed. I click it, and hear Maddie gasp from beside me.
"Oh no," she says, and she sounds like she could be a million miles away.
"I know," I state, my voice small. "It's terrible."
I look to my left, and Maddie's face looks solemn. I'm not surprised, we did meet because we both love YouTube after all.
"What do you think we should do?" I ask her, curious of what her answer will be.
"I don't know," she replies, "But we have to do something." She turns to look at me with a determined look on her face, and I nod.
We spend the next few hours looking through channels and writing down a list of the ones who were effected by this "hacker."
By the end we narrowed it down to seven YouTubers. There were more then seven channels on the list, but the only reason for that was that most of them have more then one channel, and this mysterious hacker effected all of their channels.
"Okay. Tobuscus, OlgaKay, iJustine, Smosh, ShaneDawsonTV, JoeyGraceffa and jacksfilms," I recite. "Those are the YouTubers that got hacked."
"Wait a minute. I just noticed something," Maddie says quietly. "Hasn't anyone else noticed this? Haven't the YouTubers noticed?"
She has a point. We spend the next hour checking each YouTubers social media. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, everything. But with every account we check, we are more disappointed. Nobody has posted anything since yesterday, and the accounts weren't hacked yesterday.
"I guess that's it," Maddie sighs. "We've checked all the accounts."
"Not yet," I say, still with hope. "We haven't checked Justine's twitter."
We anxiously go to Justine's twitter, full of hope, and what we see shocks us.
She tweeted about an hour and a half ago. Just two words, but probably about the worst two words it could have been. In lower case letters, the tweet read:
"help me"
