Sierra woke to sunlight streaming in through the gap in her curtains. She let out a slight moan as the headache pounded in her temples when she turned her face the other way.

Her eyes fell onto Sam's sleeping figure, his arms wrapped around her with the sheets tangled between them. She smiled slightly, there was something about Sam which just made her feel safe and calm.

She closed her eyes again and shifted slightly deeper into his arms, feeling the warmth radiating from his chest.

Just as she was relaxing herself again, she heard a buzzing on the table beside her head. Sighing she carefully slipped out of Sam's arms and sat up on the edge of the bed, pulling on a sweatshirt which lay on the floor. Sierra quickly grabbed her phone and answered.

"Hello?" She said in a hushed whisper,

"Is this Sierra Flemming?" A woman's voice she didn't recognise spoke from the other line, phones ringing and muffled talking in the background. It sounded slightly like an office building.

"Yeah, that's me, who is this?" Sierra replied, her face holding a puzzled expression,

"This is officer Langton from the Sioux Falls police department, i'm very sorry to inform you that your brother, Charlie Flemming's body was found last night,"

"Wh-what?" She stammered, feeling her voice cracking slightly as she spoke, "Are you sure?"

"We found sufficient identification, however we would appreciate it if you could come to the station to identify the body,"

Sierra sat unmoving, feeling the tears well up in her eyes,

"I'm very sorry for your loss," the officer finally said, before the line went dead.

She couldn't move, her breaths shaky, she tried to push down the tears.

"Who was that?" Sam spoke from behind her, she jumped slightly when she heard his voice, forgetting he was there.

She didn't move, she couldn't. Her brother was all she had left of her family, the only one, and he was gone.

"Sierra?" He questioned, bringing himself to a sitting position directly behind her. He put his hand on her shoulder and she seemed to be broken out of her thoughts.

"It was the police," She trembled slightly, "My brother he-" Sierra shook her head "They found his body,"

She could feel herself crying now, the tears spilling over her cheeks. Her mind was so numb with aching pain. She would never see him again, hear his voice, his laugh, she would never be able to roll her eyes at sarcastic comments he'd make.

She could feel Sam's arms holding her and when she had composed herself slightly, she pulled away from him slightly.

"They um, they wanted me to go to identify the body," she spoke in a strained voice, wiping her eyes as she did.

Sam nodded, "I'll drive you," he added

"No, really it's fine I have-"

Sam cut her off, "You're not in any state to drive," he took his phone out of his pocket, "I can call my brother to come to pick me up and we'll take you on the way."

Sierra smiled slightly and hugged him, her head resting on his chest,

"Thank you Sam," she choked slightly and hugged him tighter. They lay for a while on her bed, before Sierra pushed her self off the bed and made her way towards her bathroom door.
