matt's pov

i woke up to the smell of bacon. mm bacon.

"goodmorning." kay said while walking into the living room with a plate of bacon and some oj. "sorry i would've made pancakes or something with them but all we had was bacon." she laughed.

"thank you. bacon is just fine." i smiled and started eating. she walked back into the kitchen, i'm guessing to make herself a plate.

i picked my phone up and noticed i had a missed call and voicemail. i unlocked my phone and listened to it.

"hello mr. espinosa , this is detective collins. we have found somethings out about your daughter's death and need you to come down to the station for questioning sometime today. preferably right when you get this message. thank you."

"hey, kayana." i said walking into the kitchen where she was.

"hm." she mumbled with a mouthful of bacon.

"can you drive me to the police station. i got a call earlier from a detective, it's about emily? he said come as soon as i hear the message."

she sets her plate down and slips on some shoes and a jacket.

"i'm so scared of what happened to her. and he has to question me, so i'm guessing she didn't just fall or something. it's like a suspicious death."

we soon arrive at the police station.

"do you want me to come in with you and stay in the waiting room?" kay asked.

"if you want, you don't have to stay though kay." the truth is, i actually want her to stay. she's the only person i can talk to about this whole situation. i sound so selfish.

"no it's fine matt, i'll stay. you need someone." it's like she read my mind.

we walk into the station and to the front desk. "finally, we need to ask you some questions." i'm guessing that is detective collins.

i follow him to this room and he shuts the door behind us. "sit" he says motioning to the chair across the table in the middle of the room.

"so, we just have some questions about your daughter." yeah no shit sherlock.
i just nod for him to go on. "well, did you notice anything wrong with her?"

"well i actually haven't seen her for a month and a half." i look down and start twiddling my thumbs.

"well, we have noticed some strange markings i would say." what the actual fuck, if he means what i think he means-

"we're almost positive it was a murder case, all the bruises and the brain injury, really couldn't be possible from falling down a couple steps. pretty sure there was something waking with abuse." he said looking into my eyes with his eyebrow raised.

so many thoughts are running through my head right now.

"so there's some suspicion that you're the one who did this."

what the actual fuck. "why would i even think of doing something like that to my child. MY FUCKING CHILD. or anyone else. she's a human being for goodness sake, my baby girl." i was angry. so fucking angry at whoever did this to emily.
