Screams. Shouts. Sobs. More shouts. Lori's head was cloudy and she couldn't focus. She drifted in and out of consciousness.
Finally, she woke up for good.
"Lori? Lori. Lori! Ohmygods you're awake!" It sounded like Breccia's voice.
"Uh, wha...." Lori mumbled as she opened her eyes. The first thing she noticed was Kira across from her. And...was she....flying? Her hair was whipping around her face, and she was squinting as she fell. Wait....Lori was flying/falling too. What happened?
"Wha-what happened?" Lori asked.
"Well, the universe's worst dad threw you in the pit, with me, Breccia, and Cory." Kira said, sighing. Lori realized they were all holding hands, so they could stay together.

"World's worst....oh." Lori said. Tartarus threw her in the pit. That meant...he...was waiting...for them...to end their fall. Lori gulped.

"How long will this decent take?" Cory asked.

Breccia opened her mouth to respond, but Lori cut her off.
"Nine days. It's an estimation. Pretty precise, according to Nico, Percy, and Annabeth."

Breccia raised her eyebrow. "I thought after the little woods-mishap you weren't in contact with the Seven? You said you were only in Camp Half Blood for about a DAY, and you already weren't on good terms with the Seven, so...."

Lori gulped. The only reason she knew that was because of Hestia. The memories she'd given her was a little too revealing sometimes.

Lori tried to act casual. "Just...stuff. Reasons. Gossip in camp and stuff."

She winced at how pathetic that excuse sounded. She didn't even get to know any gossip, much less hear about Percy and Annabeth's adventures in this stinking pit.

Luckily, Cory changed the subject. "Well, who cares anyway? It won't make a difference anyway. But, do any of you have supplies? So we can, like, survive?"

Kira held her head in her hands. Well, as much as someone could put their head in their hands when they're free-falling.

"What's the point? Tartarus doesn't play fair. He'll make everything grow bad or something. Let's just give up." Her voice grew smaller than a whisper at the last sentence.

A sudden thought occurred to Lori. Breccia and Cory were yelling, not talking. So was Lori. She could hardly hear anyone else. So, why was Kira able to be so quiet, yet everyone could still hear her?

Cory frowned, seeming to realize what Lori was thinking. "Wait, Kira, how are you able to-" He was cut off mid-yell.

"Talk so quietly?" Kira whispered. "This is my domain. My....home." She said distastefully. "Of course I can do whatever I want."

Breccia was silent. She looked down, then screamed.

Cory tightened his grip on her hand. "What's wrong?" He yelled.

Breccia looked up into Kira's eyes. "How are we going to stop our fall? We're going to be squashed or drowned or burned alive!!!" She probably would've freaked out more, but Kira shook her head.

"I can just stop our fall. Maybe. My domain, remember?"

Breccia sighed in relief.

Lori stared down, wondering how bored someone can possibly get when they might die in nine days or less, free-falling through the air, or about to be deaf from all the wind whistling through their ears.
