Breakfast was utterly awkward. Liam kept looking at me and every time he did, I could feel myself blush. Louis was kind enough to help me with the dishes while everyone else chatted in the living room.
"So you and Toby?" Louis asked, gently nudging me with his elbow. I tried to pretend that I didn't hear him and I kept cleaning. There wasn't anything wrong with me liking Toby, but I'd never thought about it before. "Well as a guy," Louis said, taking me from my thoughts, "I can tell that he cares about you a lot."
"Really?" I asked, looking up at him. His eyes looked honest and he had a serious, heartfelt look on his face. "We've just been friends for so long and I don't want to change that in any way." Louis nodded, smiling to himself as he dried the last of the dishes from breakfast.
Once I put the dishes away, Louis and I joined the others in the living room. I sat at Toby's feet and looked up at everyone. They were all smiling and laughing and there was a sense of family that I never had before. I was only taken out of my thoughts when Toby nudged me with his knee.
"We were thinking of spending the weekend at the beach," Toby repeated, rubbing my shoulders with his hands. I looked up at Liam and he gave me a sly wink before moving his attention to something else.
"That sounds like a fantastic idea," I said, laughing to myself. The boys carried on with their conversation until there was a familiar knock on the door. "It's definitely Elle," I said, standing to answer it. Elle was in the hall, humming a tune like she usually did but the grin on her face was bigger than normal. Before I could say a word, she let herself in and dragged me back to the bedroom, slamming the door behind us. "What could you possibly be so excited about?" I asked, sitting on Toby's bed.
"Well you and Toby of course," she said, trying not to squeal. I shot her a confused look and she rolled her eyes at me. "Liam has been texting me all morning!" she said, unable to contain her excitement. "I knew it would happen eventually but I didn't think you'd go for it anytime soon Clary."
"I didn't go for it," I said, looking down at my hands. Elle stopped pacing with excitement to sit next to me. The look on her face made me wonder why she wasn't a broadway star already. "Toby and I are great friends but I'm not ready for anything more right now," I explained.
Elle hugged me, over emotionally reacting to the news. "I understand though," she said. "You just left home. You need time to be you first." I nodded and smiled at her. "But I heard you're all going to the beach. That should be nice!"
"You should definitely come with us!" I said, picturing Elle plus 5 boys. This was definitely something she wouldn't pass up for the world.
"I'm gonna stay home and watch the shop for the weekend," she said. "You all deserve some fun. I'll see you when you get back and we can hang out then." I hugged Elle again, disappointed that she wouldn't be joining us.
Elle was like my sister and Toby was like my brother. They both looked out for me in ways no one else could and I needed them both. With Niall back home, it was like I had a family again and I didn't want to give that up for anything.
A/N: PWAP is back and better than ever! I am so sorry for being gone for like 3 months. I've had (and still have) a ton of school work (I chose to take AP classes for some reason). Anyway, if you haven't noticed, I changed the pictures on my profile to my photography and I changed my biography and I linked my blog! I will be posting something on there every day and as soon as I figure it out, I will make it so it sends an email every time I post. I'm really excited to have that because it is really hard to write a chapter for now 5 stories every single day, but I won't abandon the blog for months at a time (sorry again). I am also considering making an Instagram and a Twitter for PWAP so let me know if you'd like that.
I do have two new stories and guess what! Neither of them are One Direction hahah. One is a dystopian future and the other is a realistic fiction piece that I am actually the main character in. Yes, taking on 5 stories at once is a terrible idea but I can figure it out. Nonetheless, I will try my very best to at the very least update weekly. I think I can do more than that.
I hope you stay with me even though I left for 3 months :) I love you all and I'm really happy to be back online and this time I'm not going anywhere!
