Goodbye

Derek's POV 

" Nooo. Why would you kill her?! I thought you loved her." I shot four bullets at Zach and by the time I was done shooting he was on the floor holding his leg.

" I did love her but if I couldn't have her then no one could! Especially you since you let her run away from school before I found her. You should have never gotten involved or else none of this would have happened. If you weren't here then Courtney would still be alive. Her being dead is your fault!" I looked at him and shot him again. 

He was dead. 

I ran to Courtney and pulled a towel from the bathroom to help stop the bleeding. I had called for back up a few minutes before and they were finally here.

" DEREK?" I stood up and ran out the door.

" I'm over here! She's with me but she's losing blood fast." I ran back to her and waited for the rest of the team to come in and take her back to the hospital in HQ.

" Please be okay." I kissed her on the forehead before they took her away.

Once everyone was clear I walked out of the house. And went for a walk.

Maybe this was my fault. Maybe I should have never become an agent. I should have never walked into Courtney's life. I should just leave now that everything has happened. Once Courtney wakes up I'm going to tell her that I can't be with her anymore. I will totally leave her life. No, I will just leave now.

" Goodbye, Courtney." I looked up at the stars and noticed two stars were brighter than the other ones and they were right next to each other. 

I went to HQ after my walk and went straight to Jake.

" Hey, can I talk to you?" He looked at me weird. 

" Yea what's up?" I looked at him and sat down. 

" I don't want to be an agent anymore. I don't want to be part of Courtney's life anymore. I'm leaving Jake. I want you to give this to Courtney when she wakes up. It was fun working here and with you guys. Bye Jake." I stood up but he stopped me.

" Wait what? You can't leave you've made Courtney so much happier than she has ever been ever since her parents. She will be destroyed when she sees that you left. This wasn't your fault." I nodded.

" It's the right thing to do and it was my fault I should have never come into her life. So here is my badge and the letter for her. Bye Jake." I walked out after I handed him my letter and badge. 

This was going to be my last time here at HQ. 

" It was fun." I said to myself. 

I walked home and sat down in my bed. I picked up my phone and called the one person that I hated most.

" Hello." They picked up.

" Hey dad, I want to be part of the family business." I could hear him gasp through the phone.

" Alright then come on down and we can get you started, we just need you-" I stopped him.

" Under one condition, I get to help you lead the company." He paused and it went silent for a few minutes.

" Alright deal." He said. 

I hung up after that. I laid down in bed. 

This will be my new life. I get to be the Devil's son and heir to the throne. 

Jake's POV

I watched Derek walk away  and looked down at the things he left behind.

His badge being one of them, so I just put it back on my desk. 

But the letter I couldn't stop myself from reading it. I slowly opened it and took out a sheet of paper with only one side having handwriting on it.  I started to read it.

Dear Courtney,

By the time you read this I would have already been gone from your  life. I'm sorry that I left but it was for the better. I know I said I love you and when you love someone you have to let them go, so I'm letting you go Courtney. By now I'm working with my father and I'm not coming back. So I just wanted to tell you that I love you and that I'm sorry for leaving at such a bad time.

I finished reading it and was shocked. 

" This is gonna go downhill real fast." I rubbed my face and folded the note back up. 

I looked around and decided to go to Courtney's room. 

She was still asleep so, I fell asleep on the couch waiting for my baby sister to wake up.
