It was silent. There was no wind blowing, no birds singing, no voices talking. There was nothing, just the endless black space known as the Void. However, there was life. Only one person, who floated alone in the nothingness.
Generic. He was the default. The brown hair. The green-blue shirt. The blue pants. The same black shoes. A mirror image of the legend. Yet, he was dead on appearance. Eyes closed, chest still. His skin old and pale, like a corpse's. But he was very much alive. Too alive. While his body was still, his mind was moving, constantly, never ending.
Because, hey, who are we kidding.
You can't kill an immortal.

Drip, drop, drip
Footsteps pounded down the dark, damp corridor. A thin layer of water was found underfoot, caused by the enviorment outside the castle. The underwater castle.
Drip, drop, drip
The courier turned the corner of the maze of a castle, his eyes settling on the dimly lit door of the throne room, his destination.
Drip, drop, drip
Shadows loomed, for this was their home. They danced along the wall, teasing the torch's meger light. This was no place for light.
Drip, drop, drip
Two guards opened Hell's gates as the courier ran past. Their faces devoid of all emotion. Maybe that was because they didn't have faces. They were skeletons of soldiers long deceased.
Drip, drop, drip
"My lord.." The courier, a lowly pigman, snorted as he kneeled in front of a thone. Shadows flicked across the many Greek-style pillars that lined the throne room.
Drip
..What?
Drop
"Your guest, he has arrived, my lord..."
Drip
Here? Fine, bring him forth.
Drop
There was a pause. Then the sound of something, wet and vile, dragging itself across the marble floor.
"My lord." A voice croaked as the creature brought itself to a stop.
"My lord, Dark as returned. He...He has failed, my lord." The visitor spoke, it's voice riddled with age.
Drip
WHAT? A roar shook the entire palace. Torches blew out. Stalactites fell from the ceiling. Guards and servants fell helplessly to the ground.
Drop
The visitor recoiled. "Sir, not all is lost! Our allies. They have faith that they can still find a way to begin Phase Two... Yet it might take time, and more resources."
Drip
Sitting on a throne made of bones, a figure rolled a chess piece through his fingers. The black tower piece froze in his grip. Then, it was brought into the palm of the figure's hand and squeezed until it became nothing but dust. The figure sat, quietly. Thinking.
Drip, drop, drip
The dark figure leaned down and glanced at a chessboard, which laid permanently on a small table of bones crafted next to his throne. On it where several pieces, each one represents a single 'player' in his game.
Fool me once, shame on you.. Fool me twice, shame on me... Very well.
Drip
The shadows clung to the figure like clothing. They followed him as he stood, only a faint outline visible. And for a long moment, nothing changed.
Drop
Then figure opened his eyes, revealing two glowing white orbs to the courier. The light from his eyes shone on his razor edge sharp white teeth, smirking, like a shark who has found prey.
Drip
Give them whatever they desire. But, tell them. If they fail me again, I will strip them of ever single gift I have given them, and make them back into the lowly creatures they were before my help.
Drop
With that, the visitor bowed and left. The figure stood solemnly, and waited for the sounds of the creature to fade away through the halls, until they were completely gone. Then he sat. The bones of his throne creaked in protest at holding his weight, but they held together, tight as stone. The Lord of Darkness rubbed his temples, now alone with his thoughts. He sighed in an irritated manner, the smirk gone from his face as he stared blankly down at his chessboard. Taking over the world wasn't an easy thing, ya know.
Drip
Some of the shadows receded, revealing two new figures. A girl walked eagerly forward. She had sharp teeth, her lips twisted into a smirk much like her father's had been. Half her hair was a dark purple, the other pink, same with her glowing eyes. Her hair, clothing, and nails, in fact, were also various shades of pink and purple.
"Father, send me with them! You know that they need a demon to start Phase Two." The girl says sweetly to her adopted father. The figure's brilliant eyes lift, now noticing the appearance of the two.
Drop
Dawn... The figure says, unsure. You have failed me before. Now that this is the second time, I don't have any room for the chance of failure.
Drip
"But Father!" The girl whines. She opens her mouth to speak, only to be cut off.
Drop
"Father is right, Dawn." Says the other figure. A boy this time, who had been leaning against a pillar. His hair was black, and he wore black and gray clothing. He pushed himself off the pillar, walking forward. His glowing, baby-blue irises peeked out from underneath his red-rimmed sunglasses.
"There is no margin for error this time."
Drip
The girl turned to glare at her adopted brother. "Jordan..." she growled, her fists clenching. The black-clad teen ignored her, walking right past her without a pinch of emotion.
Drop
"Father, Dawn is right. To begin Phase Two, we need another high level demon. Since Dark and Anti are obviously out of the picture, send me instead." The teen stopped in front of his adopted father's throne. His face was emotionless.
Drip
"Have I ever let you down before?' He asked, driving it home. The man on the throne sighed, looking down at his son.
Drop
Go
Drip, drop, drip
"Yes, Father." The boy replied, bowing deeply to hide his growing smirk. Wiping it off his face as he returned to a standing position, he turned, without another word, and walked in long strides out of the throne room.
Drip
Dawn's glare burned into the back of the boy's head as he left. She bowed loosely to her father, who paid her no mind, and she dissolved into the shadows, leaving the Lord of Darkness to himself again.
Drip, drop, drip
Herobrine reached down and placed a new piece on his chessboard. The black Bishop. A sharky grin found it's way to his face.
Let the games begin...
Drip, drop, drip
