Old Friend ~ Part III ~

You used to call me on my cell phone
Late night when you ne-- May pulled her phone out of her bag and swiped to the right to answer the call she was getting.

" MAAAAYYYY!!! " May pulled the phone away from her ear from the sudden assault. " May! How's Japan? "

" Oh, Edwin, it's you. " May pulled her phone back to her ear. ' Yea of course it is. Who else would yell at you over the phone? ' " It's pretty good. How is it in Maine without me~? "

Edwin whined " You have no idea~ I have no one to protect me anymore! " That was the thing that sucked about being friends with Edwin. He was pretty popular. Mainly because he would sing at bars and the such. So she always had to tell girls that he wasn't interested, or give guys who didn't like him 'the look'.

" Oh, oh! May do you like anyone at your school yet~? " He sang to her.

May choked " A-As if you perv! All the guys are annoying as hell! "

" What a shame. Any new friends? I bet you don't! " May could practically hear the smirk on Edwin's face.

She scoffed " I could make a whole list! "

Edwin audibly shuddered " May I gotta go like right now! Bye- "

" May, what are you listening to? " Tsukishima pulled one of May's earbuds out of her ear. She hated how he did that. He would always asked what she was listening even though it was the same thing every time. Either really weird early 2000's songs or rap.

" Started From the Bottom. " May put her earbud back into her ear. 

But he pulled it right back out. " Mind if I listen to it? " 

" I guess not. " May shrugged. Much to May's surprise Tsukishima started rapping along with the song in broken english. " Kei, you sound terrible. " May giggled.

" I'd like to see you do any better. " May was up to the challenge and switched the song "I'm Different" She rapped the song in perfect english. Edwin would always have May do the rapping in any songs he sang that had it.

" Fine, " Tsukishima scoffed " You win. I guess. "

" That's what I get for speaking english fluently. " May stuck her tongue out at him.

Toshiko tossed the ball up and hit it to the other side of the net which was easily received by Yui. Nori set the ball to Mitsoka but her spike was received by May.

Toshiko ran to where the ball was going to land and set it to Ai with great precision. Ai turned her arm to perform a cross.

Smack!

" Yeeaa!! " May high-fived the two girls.

Ai patted May's head " That receive was so great May! "

Toshiko scoffed " I thought it was pretty shitty. It was really high up. "

Toshiko went back to serve but she made it softer so it landed in the front.

" Front! " Nori received the first ball. Mitsoka bumped the ball for Yui. She got it past the block by aiming for Ai fingers.

Toshiko ran to pancake it but was too late. She slammed her hand on the ground, " Damn it.."

May patted her back " Don't mind~ We'll get the next one~ "

Toshiko, Ai and May ended up losing. " Okay, you know what that means! 10 laps of flying receives! "

" Yes captain! " They said in unison and started their laps.

.. Meanwhile in the Boys' Practice ..

Kayden sat on the side to watch the team play. They weren't bad at all. They had room to improve but every team did. 

Hinata looked towards the gym doors where Kayden was sitting, " It's the guy from the first day! " Kayden's back turned into a board.

" U-Uh..Hello..." He was shaking slightly from all the attention now being turned to him. 

Thankfully May burst into the gym " Kayden! Ayyee~ " May had sweat dripping from her face but looked more happy than ever. Then she looked up and saw Tsukishima and Yamaguchi " Tadashi! Kei! You play volleyball!? "

" Uh yea. " May was already in front of them and hopping up and down

" That's so cool~ What position do you guys play? " May was like a giddy little school girl. Which she kinda was but that's besides the point.

" We're middle blockers. " Yamaguchi answered, smiling at how excited May got.

" Of course Kei would be a middle blocker. He's the tallest person I've seen! Except that one girl from nationals..." May suddenly remembered that match and grimaced.

- Flashback -

May looked around at her teammates to see they all looked like they ran 2 miles without a stop. In front of her stood a girl that had to be at least 6'7. May could get around her blocks though. She was the ace after all.

Joanna called out for May " Ace, get the last! " She set the ball just how May liked it. High up and a foot from the net.

Bump, bump, bump.

May had done a feint over the skyscraper as a blocker. The other team's captain lay on the ground glaring up at May with such a hatred it came off in waves. May was looking down at her like a piece of gum that would get stuck on her shoe. Nothing more than filth.

May's team ended up winning that game and winning nationals for the second year in a row for May.

" We're going to beat you someday! " The captain yelled to May with teary eyes. " You damned ace! "

" Hellooo~ Earth to May~? " Kayden way waving his hand in front of May's face.

" O-Oh sorry! I was just thinking of something! " May blushed slightly from being caught not paying attention.

" Whatever you dork, we gotta go. " Kayden grabbed the back of May's collar and dragged her out of the gym.
