<A/n: That's what (Cristiano) Ronaldo's hair looks like, for those of you who don't play soccer like yours truly ;)>
Blu's POV:
I didn't know what to do. I had avoided him just fine for two years, after his little 'You lost a friend' speech. Now here he was, already making me feel like shit and he wasn't even talking.
"Blu."
I recoiled a bit from the way he said my name- so cold, unfeeling. But I couldn't help but retaliate.
"What could you possibly want from me, Ash?"
He didn't acknowledge my question. What an ass.
"Did you read my text?"
That's what he sought me out for. To see if I read his text. For the sake of fandoms, what the hell.
"You still had my phone number. Why?"
He shrugged. "I just never got around to deleting it."
I shrugged right back. I'll teach you how to play the game, boy.
"Well, I didn't read your text yet- but now I know it's bad, so why bother?"
He looked sad for a moment. It was only there for a fleeting instant, but I saw it. Why was he sad?
"Okay. Sorry to bother you then- it seems you've missed your bus. Have fun getting home." He forced a chuckle and walked away.
I could see the bus loop from where I was standing. And, looking over, I confirmed that my bus had indeed left me. I quickly dropped my backpack, opened the front pouch, and pulled out my phone.
Hurriedly, I held down the power button on top, knowing that if the bus was close enough, it would turn around. I headed over to a bench next to the bus loop, which the teachers had already abandoned.
When my anime sniper lockscreen finally popped up, I was elated. Unlocking it quickly, I opened my messages. Ignoring Ash's text on top, I clicked on the next one. Dan.
Daniel [Dan]: WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU?!?!!?!?!
Me: Sorry Sorry Sorry
Daniel [Dan]: We're too far to turn back- what happened?
I sighed. Dammit, that meant I would have to try to get Ash take me home. Unless, hopefully, someone else, anyone else, was left on campus...?
Me: Dammit. It was Ash.
Daniel [Dan]: WHAT HAPPENED
Daniel [Dan]: Tell me everything.
Me: Okay so he caught me leaving eighth about to go to the bus loop and he was so cold towards me- he was just like 'Did you read my text?' and I said 'No.' and he just shrugged and told me my bus left me. I MISS HIM SO MUCH.
Me: HELLLPPPPPP
Daniel [Dan]: What is he, Satan?
Me: I suppose.
"Who ya' texting there, Blu?" I cringed internally. "Just a friend." I replied to the teacher behind me. She was actually one of my favorites- my Language Arts teacher, Mrs. Poe.
I turned around so I was facing her. "Seen any Ravens around?" I said, poking fun at her name. She smiled-
"From my books surcease of sorrow—sorrow for the lost Lenore—
For the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name Lenore—
Nameless here for evermore."
I laughed with her over the perfect quotation. "But, anyway," Mrs. Poe said, wiping a tear from her eye, "Do you need a ride home?" I gratefully stared at her. Who knew what my mother would do if i wasn't home on time. "Can you beat a bus?" I asked uncertainly.
She showed me to a shiny new green Corvette. Smiling she said, "What do you think?"
I immediately flashed her a thumbs up and climbed in. She didn't seem keen on conversation, but I still told her to please not tell my mom about me having my phone. She only nodded.
Seeing as how we wouldn't be talking, I decided to read his text. Taking a deep breath, I unlocked my phone, and opened my messages.
Silently I clicked on his, hoping it was a simple 'Hi' or maybe, 'Sorry for being an ass most of the time.' Skimming through it, I concluded I had no such luck.
Ash <3: I know that I said in 8th grade that I never wanted to talk to you again, but I want you to know that I still have feelings for you. I know that this may come at a bad time for you, considering that you don't even like your name anymore. I know that I should probably call you Blu, but I don't understand why. I know you think I ignore you, but that's not entirely true. I ignore you only when I think I might die because your voice reminds me of what you did. I know that something happened to you after 8th grade. Sometime in the summer. It changed you. I also know that in all the boyfriends you've had in the last two years, you haven't cheated. Not once. I know these things because I watch you, Blu, whatever you wish to be called. I know these things because I still love you.
Mrs. Poe pulled into my driveway, I slowly exited my messages and turned my phone off, accidentally leaving Ash on Read. I waved to Mom, and left my teachers beautiful car in a daze.
I didn't know what to do. I didn't know what to think.
I knew someone was trying to talk to me, but it was like I was in a trance. There was no reaching me now. Suddenly my cheeks were streaming tears. I haven't cried since that night, five years ago, when I realized a boy named Greyson might be dead.
All at once, I was there. Remembering everything. And all I could do was cry as I watched the events of that terrible night play out.
I hated Ash for making me relive this pain.
I hated Greyson for giving it to me.
I hated myself for keeping it.
Worst of all, I hated life for allowing it to happen.
