The song is originally by The Animals. Also all the chapter names as you know are songs. They kind of go with the chaps but, they're one of the songs I listened to when writing.

I stood on wobbly legs. I hate this fucking house. Its my living hell. I can see all the memories that were held within the walls, the yard, the garage. I could feel it all, remembering the feel of the marks that were made on my skin. "Its okay baby, I'm right here," River said.

"I hope," I walked into the house and started to climb the stairs. At the top I looked into the chest of my father.

"Shelby," his voice rang threw the house making me feel small. Sending needle pricks down my spine.

"Yes daddy?"

"Where have you been young lady?"

"At a friends."

"Did I say you could do that?"

"No, sir. But, I'm going to anyway." I felt Rivers hand on my back, giving me confidence.

"What?!" He said anger lacing his voice.

"I'm moving out. I can't take you beating the shit out of me every night. You've hurt me in more ways then you can even imagine. I have to leave and you're going to let me." I walked by him and to my room. My shoulders slumped and I felt my energy drain out of me.

"I'm so proud of you," River said wrapping me in his arms and kissing my forehead.

"Let's just get this done," I walked over grabbing the last of my things. My books, the rest of my clothes, my odds and ends. I breathed out. This is it. I won't have to be in this hell hole anymore.

I love my father. I really do. He's my daddy. The man that quote on quote "birthed" me. I just had to do what's best for me this time. It was time for me to be happy.

"I'm ready," I went to grab one of the bags and River stopped me, "I got it. Now stay here while I take these to the car then I'll be back up to walk you down okay?"

I nodded. "Okay," I smiled. The door shut and I turned around. I could hear the screams that I had once let go The door opened and I thought it was River so I didn't turn around.

"What do you think you're doing?" I turned to see my dad.

"Making myself happy."

"You aren't happy here?"

"No dad, you hurt me. I really do love you but, I just can't take it," I said turning to grab my draw string.

I felt pain at the back of my head as he yanked me down by my hair. I hit the ground and my head banged against the hardwood. "You don't make the rules bitch," He said as towered over me. "You have no say in what you do. I tell you. I make you do what I want and I do what I want to you." He smiled as he kicked me and stepped on my throat. "Got it."

"No, I-I-I," tears flowed from my eyes.

"Whatever you're worthless anyways, fat, ugly, stupid, slutty, bitch of a daughter. Go rot with your mother," he spit in my face and pressed harder into my throat then left.

I stood slowly and grabbed my things picking my head up. I walked down the stairs and climbed in the car ignoring River as he asked me if I was okay. I curled into my seat and held myself.

"Baby, what happened?" River said as he pulled out of the driveway. We made it to Ethan's road when I started to let the tears fall. I crawled into his lap as he stopped the car.

"He's such a fucking asshole," my voice came out scratchy and weak.

"What did he do love?" I pointed to my throat and he tilted my head to the side looking at the damage. "What did he do step on it?" I nodded. "Are you fucking kidding me?"

"No, he told me to go rot with my mom," my voice hardly audible. "He said that I am worthless, fat, ugly, stupid, slutty, and a bitch of a daughter."

"No no no no no. Angel you're none of those things okay?" He buried his face in my neck and kissed it slowly. It felt good, too good. He wrapped me in his arms and my arms wrapped around his neck. My hands going into the dark strands of hair at the nape of his neck.

He kissed where my collarbone and shoulder met and a shiver ran down my spine. He kissed down my jawbone and into the hallow of my neck. I couldn't help the strangled moan that escaped my lips. He licked at it and kissed softly at the spot. My arms tightened and he pulled my body flush to him.

I couldn't help it. He made my body feel alive. He made me in general feel alive. I couldn't stop the string of moans that poured from my lips. An animalistic growl escaped his lips and poured into my ears.

I was shaking. I was breathing hard and he pulled away making me groan in protest. He took my face in his hands. I looked in his eyes and breathed in sharply. His eyes alive, on fire, an icy blaze burned in the sapphire orbs. "Breath taking."

"I guess my necks sensitive," I said feeling the heat flood my face.

"I'd say so," he said kissing my lips softly. "I didn't leave any hickies, I promise."

"Wouldn't want Ethan to see them would you?" I giggled.

"No. No I would not," he said starting back up the car. I stayed in his lap as he drove us to Ethan's. I stepped out of the car and got my things making my way to the building.

The warmth wrapped around me and I breathed. "I hope one day well have a place together," River said in my ear. I nodded and smiled.

"Me too babe. Me too," I opened the apartment door and stepped in.

"How'd it go?" Ethan said hugging me.

"I'm okay," my voice said. It was still horse and rough, weak and shaking.

"What did he do Shell?"

"He stepped on her throat and called her all sorts of things. I left the house to take her things and he did it. Its my fault it happened. I'm so sorry," River said.

I turned to him and placed my hands on the sides of his face. "You didn't do anything. He was gonna do it no matter what. You made me feel better after and that's all that matters."

He nodded and looked into my eyes. I didn't waver and he smiled softly at me. "You are so perfect, Luna," he said kissing my forehead.

I smiled at the nickname. It made heat rush to my cheeks. "Let's go get some ice on you're neck, girly," Tay said taking my arm and pulling me into the kitchen and away from the boys.

"I'm sorry." I hoped up on the counter.

"What the fuck do you have to be sorry about?"

"I never should've turned my back on him," I said my voice scratchy. I knew it would be for a few days.

"He's your father. He never should've done it anyways. You going to school tomorrow?"

"I have to," I smiled. She pointed to my neck, "I'll just wear a turtleneck or something."

"Well don't let anyone see it okay. And I won't be letting you out of my sight. You're my best friend and Ryan and Holly," I flinched at the names, "Will not get near you."

"Thank you," she placed the ice to the bruise and I sighed. "You know my life sucks but, at least I have y'all," I said getting off the counter and walking to the couch. I laid down and River got in behind me. His arms went around my waist, my head laid back against him, and his head against mine.

"I love you, angel," he whispered in my ear.

I turned and looked at him, "Always and forever."

His eyes sparkled and I smiled. He pressed his lips to mine and I melted. Love, true love, poured into my veins. He pulled back then kissed my forehead, "I have you and protect you. They will never mess with you again." I nodded and laid back down. I stayed like that until dinner and even after. I slept. Probably the best sleep of my life.
