River

"They can just leave for all I care," I said spitting venom in my words. "They should never have the chance of being near her again."

"I know how you feel," My father said. He remembers the countless times we've taken her in. The times she'd show up on our doorstep in the freezing rain or snow. Shelby meant the world to him. The daughter he was never able to have.

A few years after I was born, my mother had gotten pregnant again with twin girls. They were so happy and honestly so was I. Well after the genders were revealed momma got sick. She lost a ton of blood and slipped into a coma.

The babies were killing her and my father had to choose between them and my mother. Ever since then they've never tried again, honestly I don't blame them.

"Do we know what the rogues want?" My mothers voice asked.

"No clue," my father said looking in at Shelby's sleeping form. "But, we need to know fast." He looked at me and then back at her.

"What are you planning Jack?" My mother asked her mate.

"I think an introduction is in order for the soon to be Luna," He smiled.

"River?" A frantic voice said in my head. I ran into the room and saw her looking for me.

"I'm right her love," I said sitting next to her on the bed.

"Hey El bear," my dad said coming in to.

"Daddy!" Shelby said wrapping him in a hug as he bent down over her.

"You feeling okay?" He asked her. Mom and him took seats next to her bed and she made room for me next to her.

"I g-guess," she said looking down. Her eyes downcast and not meeting our faces.

"River told me hun. Why didn't you?" He asked her.

"It was too much. I couldn't be a burden to you guys. I love ya'll so much," she said a sad smile tugging on her lips.

"Angel, you are never a burden. We love you and want to do everything we can to protect you. You're like my little girl," Dad said smiling at her.

"Our, little girl," mom corrected.

Shelby

"Let's get you to your room, okay baby?"

I nodded my head at River. I was slowly making my way to my room at home. After the few days in the hospital i was glad to be home. It was Sunday. He sat me on my bed and helped me lay up my leg. "Thank you," I said smiling and pressed my lips to his softly.

"I have school tomorrow okay but, Ethan said he was taking off work," River said. He sat next to me in bed and I laid propped up against his chest.

"Wish you could stay but, I know schools important and on top of it all you've gotta bring me my make up work," I said giggling.

"I'll be here the minute schools over," he said as he got up and put in a movie. "Whatcha wanna eat?"

"Strawberry ice cream," I said wringing my fingers together.

"On it," he said winking and leaving the room. He came back in with two huge mugs. They both were topped with whipped cream and a cherry.

"Thank you," I said smiling.

"Of course. I also brought you flaming hot cheetos," he said taking out a bag. I couldn't stop the smile.

"You really didn't have to do that. I mean, ice cream, cheetos, the mountain dew you brought in earlier, and horror movies," I said gesturing to "The Conjuring" home screen playing.

"Well, my mate is hurt and stuck in bed. And won't be able to walk for a long time. Also you just got out of the hospital after a week," he said handing me my mug.

"Yes and you spent the whole time with me other then when you had school. And if it wasn't you then it was dad or mom or Ethan. I really love you guys," I said as he got into bed with me.

"We love you too, Baby girl," he said pressing play.

I slowly ate my ice cream and as I finished about half of it and felt like I couldn't eat anymore. "Here, I can't eat it."

"Are you sure?" He asked me.

"Yes, I really can't."

"Okay don't push yourself," he said as I cuddled into his side. "Mom said she bought a wheelchair for you so you can go to school."

"Really! So I can go tomorrow?" I asked. My head was starting to feel a little fuzzy from the medication I had to take.

"Maybe," he whispered kissing my forehead.
