We Meet Special

FLASHBACK: HALLOWEEN, 2015

"Smile!" Zay said as the phone clicked its camera. Riley, Maya, and I all grinned as he blinded us with the flash. He handed the pink phone back to Riley who was full of giggles.

"Thanks, Zay," she smiled. He tipped his cowboy hat to her and chuckled.

"Anytime Little Lady," he replied. Riley, Maya, Lucas, Farkle, Zay, and I all stood in front of the haunted house in Central Park. It was our first Halloween, all of us, together. Our school was having an outdoor dance nearby, which we were all planning on going to after we took a peek inside the house. Little did I know they had a surprise waiting for me when we got to the dance.

Riley and Maya went as matching flappers, the brunette in a purple outfit and the blonde in a dark blue, and Lucas went along with their theme going as a 1920's Dandy is what it's called. His Texas buddy attempted to scare people in his zombie cowboy costume, but he was too adorable to be scary. Farkle went as an evil scientist, while I decided to go a little less untraditional route. I had worked on my costume for a week, borrowing an assortment of the perfect accessories from both of my best friends. My costume was layered with shades of blues and yellows, as I had become a modern-day Snow White, one of my favorite princesses. Maya put one arm around me before letting her other arm sling around Riley. 

"Am I the only one who isn't afraid to go into the haunted house?" she asked turning her head between the two of us. Riley and I shared a look of nervousness before I shook my head.

"Nope," I sighed, "I'm in," I looked at Farkle, "You coming or what?" he took a deep breath before nodding and laughing slightly.

"But I can't promise I won't pee my pants," he joked. At least, I hoped it was a joke. Riley glanced at Cowboy.

"Lucas?"Riley asked as Maya smirked at him.

"Yeah Huckleberry, you coming or are you too chicken?" she started to flap her arms like she was clucking.

"I'm obviously in Hart," Lucas said. Maya pushed him.

"Good cause I'm gonna beat you to it!" she shouted before running inside with Lucas entail.

"Hey no fair you're cheating!" he pouted before running after her. Farkle and Zay walked in as I stood behind Riley.

"Come on Honey, it won't be that bad," I encouraged her, "If I can do it then so can you." She nodded before we walked in side by side.

Maya turned towards us, walking backwards, "Hey took you two long enough," she smirked looking at Lucas, "Can you guess who won?"

"Only because you cheated!" he nudged her. I laughed.

"Come on Cowboy just let it go," I sighed. He rolled his eyes before looking back at Maya.

"Yeah, well I'm gonna beat you to the next room!" he shouted before running ahead of us with Maya fast on his tail.

"Ranger Rick!" she shouted, pushing past the door. Riley and I were about to follow them before the door slammed shut in our faces with our two friends inside.

"Guys? Guys!" we heard them shouting on the other side, banging on the door. Riley screamed. I glanced at Farkle nervously.

"Don't worry, I bet it's just a trick or something," Farkle said. Zay nodded.

"Yeah to try and scare us," he smirked with confidence. I sighed leaning back against the wall before feeling two holes poke my head. I turned around to see I was leaning on a painting, it was a boy and a girl but something about the eyes is off. They're at eye level with me, so I look into them, seeing our two friends who are trapped in the room with them.
