It was a scream of defiance, a shout to the heavens, letting the world know that he wouldn't give up. As he screamed, he could feel the power building in him. He opened his eyes completely. He was still lying in the crater, a pool of fire around him. Only seconds had passed. Zu'in was peering at him from above, checking if the work was done. Zulah's scream shocked him. He spat another ball of fire at Zulah.
Fire completely enveloped Zulah. It filled his veins, letting his eyes glow. He stood up. He could feel no pain. His ribs were healed. He could see himself burning. "I... I am fire!" It went through Zulah's mind. He grabbed his sword, rushed at Zu'in, who was still trying to comprehend what just happened. He leapt into the air. Ten, twenty metres. His sword became a great blade of flame. He struck down at Zu'in in his dragon form.
Zu'in blocked with his front leg. He sheared right through. The cry of pain pierced through Zulah's mind. He spun, throwing six flame waves in quick succession. Then he suddenly turned into a crackling mass of purple and blue energy. "I am all the elements!" He conjured two lightning spears, threw them at Zu'in. They pierced through his other leg, and he fell.
Hate filled eyes stared up at Zulah as he walked closer. "This ends now, Zu'in." He said. He lifted his sword, to strike the final blow. Zu'in blasted him in the face with fire. He stumbled back, trying to clear his vision.
Zu'in took off, flying away. "You will regret this!" He shouted back to Zulah. "I will go to your home town and destroy everything there! And you won't stop me this time!" Zu'in flew into the distance.
Zulah fell to his knees, extinguishing the lightning that still crackled around him. "That...was...AWESOME!" Eren yelled. He ran and embraced Zulah. "Dude that looked so cool! You should've seen yourself!" Zulah smirked. Xiriya came over to him. "What now?" She asked.
"Now..." Zulah paused, gathering his thoughts. "Now, I go home and defeat him once and for all."
Ivy was still tending to the unconscious Zaakanin. Zulah went over to her. "How is he?" He asked her. She looked up to him. "Still unconscious, but other than that. He is fine. I can't say anything about the state of his mind though. It's too early for me to tell." Zulah beckoned Xiriya over. "Try to wake him up with a little bit of icy splendour." He winked at her.
Xiriya smirked, and then made a ball of solid ice right above his face. She wanted to lower it slowly on to his face, so that the cold could wake him. Before she could initiate her plan, however, Zulah suddenly lit on fire and threw a tiny bit of fire at the ball. It immediately melted, turning into a mass of icy water, spilling over Zaakanin's unconscious form.
He spluttered awake, blinking his eyes in confusion. He shook his head, and then blinked twice. He looked at Zulah. "Ah. So that monster has finally left me." He stood up, dusting himself off. Zulah frowned. "You remember everything?" He asked.
"Of course I do!" Zaakanin exclaimed. "I remember every single thing we did, every detail." He paused. "Well, up until the part where he left my body. What happened afterwards?" Zulah sighed. "We battled, he flew away." Zulah turned and started walking towards where they had left their horses before entering the cave. "I'm going home. He has to bes stopped." He climbed on his horse, and before anyone could stop him, he was off.
"We have to go after him! Lend him our support!" Eren exclaimed. Xiriya sighed. "Why did I know you would say that?"
"You coming, Ivy?" Eren asked.
"Yeah, I guess."
"How about you, Zaakanin?"
"Yes. There is much that boy has to learn, and I can teach it to him. So let's go!"
They set off after Zulah, who was already only a speck in the distance.
Two days later, in Kriyiik.
Zulah's party of tired, travel weary adventurers made quite a sight as they approached Kriyiik's gates. They had been riding almost non-stop for the past two days. Pausing only once, to take a quick nap. Now they were at the gates of the city, and were being given a hassle by the guards.
"Red eyes, dark hair. That's gotta be him!" One of the guards whispered to another when he saw Zulah. The guard that was spoken to proceeded forward to Zulah, cleared his throat and then spoke politely. "Sir, I would ask that you would please accompany me to my superior's office."
The guard nervously awaited Zulah's answer.
"And the rest of my party?" He asked.
"They can wait here or come with us, it is up to them."
The guard took Zulah, along with the rest of his friends, to a small guardhouse in the wall. Zulah was unpleasantly surprised by the person who awaited them.
"Well well well. Looks like the little birdie has flown home." Frocknar sniggered at his own joke. "And he brought two of my friends with him. Well done!"
Xiriya sighed. "Not this idiot again!" She mumbled to the rest of her group. Frocknar pretended not to hear.
"Well. It's obvious that you're going back to jail. You AND the little assassin with you." Xiriya and Eren wanted to protest, but Zulah silenced them with a dejected wave of his hand.
"Let him have us. He'll be begging for our help soon enough." Frocknar burst out laughing at this. "YOUR help? Bah! Don't make me laugh! The only help I'll be getting from you is..." He paused, his brain not quick enough to think of something. Zulah's group burst out laughing, even the grey-headed Zaakanin. Frocknar reddened, and then shouted at the guards, "Take these two criminals to the jail cells! And make sure that it is impossible for them to escape!"
"As for the rest of you, you, old man, I don't care about. You two girls will accompany me on a tour. I have a few things I want to ask you."
The two guards came and grabbed Eren and Zulah by the arms, shackling them and taking their weapons. They didn't resist. They locked them up again, in the same cell as before, only this time, the two guards stayed there, guarding them.
Eren sighed and flopped down on his old bed. "What now?" He asked Zulah. Zulah sat down on his own bed.
"Now, we wait for Zu'in to show up, and then I break us out of here and go and kill him."
The two guards heard this, and burst out laughing.
"There's no escaping this time!" One of them said. "You'll be in here for quite a while," the other said.
Zulah sighed and lay down. 'We'll see," he murmured. "We'll see." Then he closed his eyes to get some sleep.
