Chapter 1 :]

"Jane, hurry up! You don't want to miss an episode of X Factor, do you?" My best friend, Laurice, yelled.

"Hold on, I'll be there in a minute!" I yelled back at her.

X Factor is one of my favorite shows, ever. Simon Cowell is the most negative person I have ever known but he makes the show better when he's in it.

"Alright, I'm here, did I miss anything?" I asked Laurice.

"Nope," She said, popping the 'p'.

We are now seated in my Mom's living room. The walls are painted white and the linoleum is also white. The high ceiling has also got a crystal chandelier that sparkles when sunlight or any form of light strikes it. Also, flowers are seated on oak tables and a heavy glass oak table is sat in between the white leather couch and the huge flat screen T.V.

"Simon Cowell is so negative! I mean, she's good at singing but he just let's her down!" Laurice whined.

I chuckled, "You always say that when we watch X Factor, you know?"

"I do not!" She retorted.

"You do," I muttered.

She shrugged and focused on what is happening on the television show. Laurice and I have always watched X Factor together and we always sleepover each other's houses. It's more of a ritual than a routine, really.

We were getting into the show when suddenly my Mom came in the living room from work. "Hey Janeane, Laurice, have you both had dinner yet?" She asked.

"Good evening," Laurice greeted my Mom.

"Hey, Mom," I greeted her, "Yeah, we ordered pizza earlier."

"Oh okay, that's good. It saves me from cooking dinner," My Mom said, "I'll see you girls around, goodnight." She kissed me on the cheek and left for the door.

"G'night, Mom," I called out.

"Goodnight, Mrs. Cowell!" Laurice called out, too. Laurice turned to look at me, "Isn't it funny how Simon Cowell has the same last name as you?"

I shrugged. "Not really. I mean, I don't even know who my Dad is in the first place. My Mom and Dad are still apparently married and they still meet each other behind my back but I don't know who he is," I lied.

"Oh, okay," Said Laurice."Isn't Zayn Malik the cutest guy or what?" She exclaimed out of the blue.

I rolled my eyes at her.

She slouched. "I am so pathetic," She mumbled out of nowhere

I looked at her, "What's wrong?"

She shook her head, "Nothing, it's pathetic, like I said."

"Tell me, I promise I won't laugh," I promised her.

Laurice brightened up a little, "You promise?"

I chuckled lightly, "Hey, that's what friends are for, right?"

"I suppose so," She said uneasily, "It's just that I don't have a chance of seeing him."

I gave her a questioning look, "Seeing who?"

"Zayn," She whispered.

I stared at her but she looked uncomfortable so I sat back down to where my back was against the couch.

"I told you it was pathetic," She mumbled.

I moved my head to face her but not moving my back from the couch. "It's not pathetic, I actually find it," I searched for the word, "Cute."
