Chapter 1Authors Note*
This chapter of the story is just a start. Starts can be very boring for some people so I made this an optional chapter. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO READ THIS CHAPTER, BUT YOU CAN.It does show the first part of the bond between Payton and Daryl, however it shouldn't affect anything in the future. Enjoy :).

Payton's POV
^
^I grab my bags out of the back of the bus and Allison grabs my hand. I look at the prison, it's huge, safe, and friendly-ish. People walking around, smiling, talking, laughing. Allison grips my hand tighter. I look at her, she shudders with a look of fear on her face.

"We're gonna be safe in there?" My daughter, Allison, asks.

"We're gonna be okay, I promise. All of your cousin Zack is in there, Don't be scared,"

"But mommy, I don't want to go in there. Prisoners live in prisons. Bad ghost could be in there still,"

"Alright honey. You either go in there and be safe, or stay outside and get torn apart piece by piece by monsters until there's nothing left of you . Your choice." I say with a fake evil tone and a threatening smile.

"That's a little harsh," I hear another voice say sarcastically.I quickly turn around and I see an old woman with short gray hair picking up my bags.

"I'm sorry," I quickly shake my head, "You are..."

"Carol. I'm on the council here, I'm
going to help you bring you to your rooms. Your name is...oh..I forgot," I smile at her.

"Payton, and my daughters name is-"

"Allison," Ally cuts me off, "Allison Wilson. It's good to meet you," She holds out her hand. Carol shakes it.

"It's good to meet you too sweetie. Now, both of you, follow me to your cell," Carol quickly turns around and walks to the door. We follow her through a few cell blocks. We finally stop at a small cell with two beds.

"Here it is. There are shelves you can put your stuff on. The shower rooms are down that hall. Breakfast is around 1-2 hours after the sun rises, lunch is served every other day in the early afternoon, dinner is served whenever the dinner bell rings, and I think that's all. If you have any questions just ask anyone on the council,"

"Alright, thank you so much," I smile sincerely. She half-smiles and walks away. Allison looks up at me happily.

"It's gonna be so cool to sleep in here, I haven't slept in a bunk bed since I shared a room with Giana," She happily says.

"Says the one who was afraid to even step foot in the building," I joke and ruffle her bright red hair. I tell her to get some rest, we've had a long journey,  and I leave the room. The cell block is buzzing with people, who are moving things, laughing, adjusting. I figure that I should do the same.

I start with introducing myself to the people I haven't yet. I meet a Tyreese and a Sasha on my way. I walk down long hallways until I reach where I came out of. Outside sits a man cleaning a motorcycle and Zack cleans his car. Zack is my younger sisters oldest son, he spent lots of time with me and my family. I never thought I'd see him again.

The man looks up at me, then he looks back down.

"Y'all need something?" He says while cleaning him bike.

"Actually, I wanted to help out around here, cooking, supply runs, whatever you need, and since your on the council I thought that-"

"Didn't you just arrive here on the bus, like one hour ago," Zack says and stops cleaning.

"I did, however that's an hour of safety for me, therefore I owe you,"

"Go talk to someone else. I ain't here to give out jobs," Says the man and hops on his motorcycle. I chuckle at the sound it makes. It sounds like a biter eating a duck.

"Why y'all laughing?" The man asks.

"It's not supposed to sound like that, it should be more, what's the word, silence. Try adjusting the bolts by the tire," I say and walk towards the bike. I bend down next to the man. He hands me a tool box and I work on his bike for about a half and hour.

"Try it now, it should work," I say and brush my black stained hands on my dirty jeans. He tries again and this time the sound is more steady.

"There we go" I clap my hands together, "It should work longer now and it might even go faster,"

"Thanks," He says.

"You're welcome," I smile, "I didn't catch your name,"

"Daryl," He sighs and looks up, "You?"

"Payton, also, if it keeps making that noise, just uh-"

"I think I'll be able to handle it next time myself," He says and gets on his bike again. Wow, that's rude.

"Wait, Aunt Ally. Still wanna help out?" Zack asks.

"Nah Zack, We're good right now," Daryl says as an attempt to get me away.

"The more the better," Zack shrugs.

"I'm coming, I want to come," I say as I look at Daryl when I walk pass. He looks pissed. Two black men, two black woman and an Asian man pile into two separate cars.

I help pack Zack's truck and I climb into the passenger seat next to Daryl. He sighs and I smirk.

"What's so funny, red?" He asks, referring to my red hair.

"Red?" I laugh, "It's Payton, or is that too many syllables for you,"

"I ain't calling you Payton, Red" He jokes and slightly smiles.

"Alright, brown," I sigh, "Damn it that won't work,"

Daryls POV
^^^^^^^^
^She laughs, again. "What's so funny red?" I ask her, annoyed.

"Red? It's Payton or is that too many syllables for you?" She smiles. Her red curly hair bounces every time she laughs.

"I ain't calling you Payton, Red," I try to resist laughing but a smile leaks through.

"Alright Brown," She says and realizes how bad it is. "Damn it, that won't work," She laughs for the hundredth time. All smiles this one.

All smiles.
