CHAPTER 5
~Nicola’s P.O.V~
“I’m your mom.” She whispered calmly to me.
“W-What!?” I sat up quickly.
She just sighed.
“What the actual hell!? You’re my mum?? Why didn’t you tell me?” I stood up. I was so mad at her. Scratch that, I was enraged.
How could she do that to me?
“I just wanted to keep you safe-“I cut her off.
“Keep me safe? Don’t you think it would have been more important to grow up and know that my mother loved me? Why did you leave me with Jack, huh? Keep me safe by leaving your newborn daughter with a psycho teenager!?” I yelled at her.
“Nicola, please. I was too young to have a baby.” She tried to explain, only for me to cut her off again.
“Oh just cut the crap already! I hate you!” I stormed upstairs.
I sprinted to my bedroom, which was still destroyed by the way, and grabbed an outfit from my closet.
I put on a black “Wild Free” hoodie on top of my grey thick strap tank top, a pair of pink wool sweatpants, my knit bootie slippers and threw my hair up into a messy bun.
I grabbed my iPhone and put on floral case. As I grabbed 10 pounds that was lying around on my dresser, Mai pounded on the door for me to open up.
I slid the window open and stepped onto the roof into the cold London air.
As I climbed down as silently as a human possibly could, I couldn’t help but notice Mai in the living room window on her phone. I rushed down as fast as I could; she was probably calling the Lads.
The second my feet touched the grass, I bolted from the house and into the dark and mysterious woods.
I cautiously walked through the forest for hours. All the pieces suddenly clicked inside my head.
My middle name is Mai, Why she broke so many rules just to save me, why we look so much alike. The clues were all there.
I noticed a light near the end of the trees. The closer I got, I could see a little hidden road with the cute little café I always used to go to.
I stepped foot into the quiet and cozy café. Walking up to the cashier, I took in the familiar surroundings.
Upon entering, the cash register and back door to the kitchen was to your right. On your left, there were around 4 tables with chairs surrounding it. Further in, there were L shaped leather couches and a big two-way fireplace in the middle. More tables and chairs situate by the windows.
The cashier was Martha, the owner of the café. She looked to be in her mid to late 40’s. She had blue-grey eyes and tiny pink lips.
“Hello welcome to Martha’s! What can I get you Nic?” She sent me a warm smile.
“Hey, Martha! How much is just a plain coffee…?” I asked the lady whom I usually talked to when visiting. I may be awake for a while, so I need coffee.
“Well, usually 1.09, but you look kind of down. Free for you tonight.” She got two hot coffees and two biscuits. She exited from behind the counter and waved me over to a table by the fireplace.
I sat down opposite to her and sipped the coffee. It was bitter and disgusting, but as long as it keeps me awake.
“Want to tell me what’s up? You never order coffee, and your face is displaying all your emotions.” She ripped a piece off her biscuit and popped it into her mouth.
I sighed. How could I explain my situation to her without sounding like a spoiled brat? I ran away from my mom, leaving her worried and thinking I hated her.
“Just… things are complicated at home.” I took a bite of the biscuit that lay in front of me.
“Look, I have no idea what exactly is going on, but you can talk to me anytime. I am here for you Hun.” She looked me in the eye.
“Thank you Martha… I will have to visit more often.” I smiled at her. Her cozy little café always gave me a relaxed vibe.
We talked for a while more while I explained about Mai. She asked me to visit her soon, and then I was on my way to the park.

The park was an hour away, but I finally managed to walk here. I kicked rocks on the pathway that winded through the dark park. Sitting on a big rock facing the pond, I hear a familiar voice calling my name.
“NICOLA! NICOLA IS THAT YOU!?”
I whip around, expecting to see Mai or one of the boys, but instead I see the person I thought I would never see again.

So sorry it took so long to update! Ugh the café part was so boring to write, it took me a week to write just that part. This is a horrible chapter, but hopefully the next one will be better!
A BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO COMMENTS!! It actually inspires me to write more, and that’s pretty much how I finished this chapter. Im so so happy that I’m getting such good feedback for this story, and I have you guys to thank!
So I started a new adoption fanfic, and I don’t know when I will post it. Hopefully my excitement can wait till I’m done with this story :P
