I was in Roman Reigns' locker room just talking to him. We were really good friends and I loved just sitting down, talking to him and having a really good laugh. I enjoyed his company and I enjoyed watching Raw with him backstage.
"So you don't know when Randy's coming back?" Roman asked.
"No. I miss working with him though." I said.
"Yeah. You guys have a great story line going on right now. I actually believed you were dating at first. he said.
I chuckled. "Well, we did actually date once." I told him.
"Really? What happened?"
"We just let our careers get in the way our relationship too much and we came to an agreement to end the relationship but stay good friends. That's why it's not that awkward doing this story line with him." I said.
"Well, good. I'm glad." he said. "What do you have planned for tonight?"
"Well, I know I have a match tonight against Summer Rae. That's about it. You?"
"I have a match against Kane."
"Wow. Talk about an easy win." I said.
He chuckled. "I'm glad you have so much confidence in me." he said.
"I do. You're amazing out there in the ring. Other than Randy and maybe Dean Ambrose, you're the other one I would not mind sharing a ring with and getting protection from." I told him.
"Well, Randy should be back soon and then you can have all the protecting your little heart desires." he said.
I laughed.
"Excuse me, Roman?" Byron Saxton said poking his head into Roman's locker room. I took that as a sign to get out of the camera shot. Roman got into character, kind of. Byron walked up to Roman. "If I could have a moment of your time."
"Yeah?" Roman asked.
"The uh, the last few weeks for you have been challenging, some would say, ever since you won the Royal Rumble match. What's the journey been like for you?" Byron asked.
"Well, look at it this way. At the Royal Rumble I had to go through 29 other superstars and right after that I have to take on the 'Yes' movement. I get through all that and then I have to face the Beast, Brock Lesnar. I think that name says enough. When you have that much going on and you're that busy you don't really think of the journey. You stay focused on the destination, WrestleMania." Roman said.
"But, still, you won the Royal Rumble match and yet you're still fighting your way to WrestleMania. Is there any resentment toward the Authority for manipulation you and putting you in this position?"
"The Authority. Yeah. Let's just clear this up. They didn't manipulate me and they weren't trying to put Daniel Bryan in this situation. What they were trying to do was ride the wave of public opinion and get Seth Rollins in this situation. But it didn't work."
"What about Daniel Bryan? Some would say he rode that same wave of public opinion." Byron said.
"Let's just say, he had an opportunity and he took it." Roman simply stated.
"You're sort of tempering your response there. Is it because you and Bryan were forced to team up this week and he earned some of your respect or is it because if you were in Daniel Bryan's position you would've done the same thing?" Byron asked.
"I have a ton of respect for Bryan. But let's look at it this way. If I was in the Royal Rumble match and I got thrown over the top rope, I'd take it like a man. I can't say the same about Daniel because I'm fighting him now at Fastlane. What, Daniel, he needs to realize is the only reason he has any chance of going to WrestleMania is because of me. I gave him the opportunity and you're looking at the man who's gonna take it away. Believe that Byron." Roman said. He grabbed his jacket off the the hanger and walked over by me while the cameras cut out.
