Chapter 2

Peeta's POV:

It's been 3 months since Katniss told me she is pregnant. Now she is 5 months along and is starting to really show. "Are you ready babe?" "Not really." We are walking into the doctor's office. Today we can find out the sex of the baby. I personally want a little boy but I think Katniss wants a girl. "Lets go." 

About a hour later we were sitting in the office while the doctor was doing an ultra sound and looked confused. "Is something wrong?" Katniss asked the doctor. The doctor didn't respond. "What's wrong with our baby?" I practically screamed at the doctor. "Nothing. Everything is just fine with your babies." "Babies?" "Yes it seems like Katniss is pregnant with triplets." I looked at her with a smile on my face but she just had no emotion on her face. But I could tell she was nervous. As we walked out of the doctor's office she didn't say anything. The drive home was silent. We approached  the house and I parked the car. That's when I looked over at Katniss with tears streaming out of her eyes. It triggered something in me and a tear fell from my eye. I held her tight and kissed her forehead. She nuzzled her head into my chest and we stayed like that silent until she spoke. "What are we going to do Peeta? I don't know if I can handle this. I mean come on. Triplets?" She and I walked into the house quietly and cuddled on the couch for a while until Annie came over with her son Finn. So she was the first to know about the triplets. She was so excited. She said that Finn would finally have some friends to play with. Finn is only 1 month old so he will only be a few months older than the triplets.

 We decided to have everyone over for dinner to share the news. Annie stayed to help with dinner. By the time everyone started showing up, were just finishing up dinner. Johanna was the first to show up. "Hey Preggers. Thanks for the dinner invite." "No problem Johanna. We have a big announcement to make so we figured you'd want to be here." In the next 20 minutes everyone was here. We all chatted for a bit then we went and had dinner. "We have an announcement." Katniss looked at me before continuing. "Peeta and I found out today that we are not having a baby." She paused while everyone looked confused. "I'm pregnant with three babies. We're having triplets!" Everyone was shocked except Annie, of coarse. Johanna was the first to speak. "Well looks like Preggers here is going to be bigger than we thought." We all laughed at her comment. Everyone congratulated us and were on their way. 

Right about the time everyone was gone, I had a flashback. I saw images flashing before my eyes. Images of my life. How I had gotten a beating because I helped Katniss and how because Katniss rebelled in the Quell my family was killed in the bombings. "She's a mutt. She's a mutt." I wispered at first and than I was yelling it. "She's a Mutt!" I was going towards Katniss and she could see what was going on. She was running towards the door, trying to escape the monster I had become. But it was no use. I chased her out the door and was on top of her holding her down against her neck. I saw her eyes go blood shot and then all I saw was blackness. 

I woke up a couple hours later strapped down to a hospital bed. Oh, what have I done. "Katniss." I mutter her name under my breath as my eyes tear up. Then I hear the door open and look up to see who has come to visit me. It's Haymitch. He comes and sits next to me. We sit there in silence until I ask him something. "Katniss. The baby. Are they all right?" I ask about to have an emotional break-down. "Yeah yeah yeah. They're alright. But it was a close call. If I wasn't right there you wouldn't have been so lucky." "Thank you Haymitch."

The doctors released me from the hospital a week later.  As soon as they released me, I ran to Katniss's room. She was still in a coma. Her heath and the baby's health are both stable but, I know that it was a close call. If Haymitch wasn't there, I could've lost them both. And if I did that, I would never forgive myself.
