After what felt like hours of tests and conversations, it was determined that I was pregnant. I thank the doctor and walk out of the office, Lynzee following right behind me. She links her arm with mine and rests her head on my shoulder as we waited outside for John to come pick us up. "What are you gonna do, Lexi?" I sigh and take a moment to reply, "I have to talk to Natalie." I sigh and she lifts her head and looks at me, "what are you going to do about Brooklyn?" My heart drops, I hadn't had much time to think about that. "I don't know", my voice cracks and tears begin streaming down my face. "I really don't know."
Johnathan pulls up infront of us and leans across to open up the passenger door. Lynzee opens up the back door for me and then she climbs into the front seat, kissing John's cheek as a quick hello. "So what's the news, Lex?" he says quietly, almost scared to ask. I bite my lip and look down, I'm sure he got the hint. I pull out my phone and ask Natalie if she's home, making a mention that I really need to talk to her. She replies almost instantly, telling me that her door is always open for me. While Johnathan is stopped at the light, I ask him to drop me off at Brooklyn's.
Less than 10 minutes later I find myself walking up the familiar wooden steps of the house that I love so much, rehearsing my speech over and over in my mind. I lift my hand to knock but the door swings open before my fist can make contact. "Alex, are you alright?"
We go sit down at the kitchen table as the coffee machine brews in the background. "Natalie, I", I start crying and she places her hand overtop of mine. "You can tell me anything, sweetheart." I nod my head yes and try to spit out the words that I failed to say before, "Natalie, I'm pregnant." Her mouth drops and I can't tell if she's upset or excited, but she stands up and walks around to my side of the table where she embraces me in a huge hug. "Natalie, what do I do?" She softly tucks my hair behind my ear and rubs my back to comfort me. "Did you go to the doctor?" I tell her everything that happened and she motions for us to go sit on the couch.
Grabbing my hands, she looks me in the eyes and sighs. "Did you tell your parents?" I shudder, "That's what I'm dreading the most, Natalie I'm going to get kicked out. They're going to kill me." I break my eye contact and stare across the room at a picture of Brooklyn. "Maybe you don't have to worry about that." I look at her confused and she gives me her thinking look. "Alex?" "Yes?" "Do you remember when Brooklyn whispered to me in the airport?" "Yeah" I say, looking down as I spin the ring Brooklyn gave me around my finger. "He told me to take care of you, and that's exactly what I'm going to do." I look back up to see Natalie's beautiful smile.
"You're moving in with me, I'll find a way to make this work if it's the last thing I do."
