"Alexia! Alex? Lexi? Wake up hunny." Renée's voice fills my head and I turn to look at the clock, 6:30am. I force my way downstairs and Richard is making breakfast, "rough night?" He asks me in a laugh. "I guess so" I spit out in a sarcastic mumble while grabbing a plate and a few pancakes. I wonder if I really do look that bad. "Watch what you tone you use toward your father please" Renée huffed and I apologized, even though to me, he's not my real father, and she's not my mother either. I do love them though, our relationship is just complicated.

Truth is, my deadbeat dad has never been in my life and my mom crashed a car 4 summers ago and ended up in a coma she never awoke from. Therefore because I was 13 and most of my family lived across the world, an adoption center it was. Tearing me away to a new town to start highschool, away from my friends, and my older brother Mason who was already living on his own. I miss that.

Although on the bright side I have a beautiful boyfriend of 3 years, someone in which I can call my sister, and her boyfriend who protects me along side Brooklyn. I have adoption parents who were at least kind enough to take me in, and lastly Natalie who reminds me of my mom in every single way possible and is always there for me. In the end I guess as much as I can feel alone sometimes, I'm really not.

Meanwhile, I run upstairs and turn on my straightener, grab out my makeup bag, and open up my closet. Realizing I don't need to impress anyone, I grab out a black pair of skinny jeans and a black coldplay tshirt from the concert I went to with Brooklyn last summer, throwing it on with a pair of old converse and a red flannel.

After my hair is straight and my makeup is done, I grab my bag and pull my crappy old iphone off the charger, turn off my light, and go back down stairs.

Johnathan honks from out front and Lynzee's name flashes on my phone screen, "we're here babygirl". I yell out I'm leaving so hopefully one of my parents can hear me and I race out the front door, jumping in the backseat of John's red cavalier.

Lynzee attempts to turn around and hug me, giving me a little smile. "We're here for you beautiful" she says in my ear while brushing my hair out of my face. I pull away and hug Johnathan from behind, careful not to distract his driving. He gives me a smile through his mirror and I smile back. I know he's lost too, you can see it in his dark brown eyes, Brooklyn was his best friend since grade school. They've never been this far apart. Ever.
