"Averi." Star says behind me as I gaze into the mirror. "I did not know you possessed the art of sowing. You look amazing."
"I agree." Robin compliments as he comes up next to me. "This outfit should be a better fit than the skins you wore before. They will help your movement to be more smooth."
I didn't even respond as I kept fiddling with the belt that now wrapped loosely around my waist. It was going to be hard, getting use to the holsters that held my knives. They were custom made by the Northern pack, but I never actually used them until now when I was in need of a signature weapon. Guns were offered, but those aren't really my thing, their just to easy.
I hesitantly grab one of the knives and just twirl it in my fingers loosely. "I don't see why I have to lug these around with me all the time! I mean, why do I need a weapon when I was born one?"
Robin just chuckles. "You will be thanking me when those knives become your last resort of protection." He scans over my design once more. "At least they match the suit."
He wasn't wrong, the knives did clash well with the outfit, which I had made myself. It was a raw forgotten talent that I never thought I would use in my life, but here I am.
The top was way more revealing than the last, practically a tank top that showed almost all of my stomach and made entirely of leather. The straps resembled belt buckles, and provided a better lift to reveal more cleavage and bust. What could I say, Werewolves liked to show off their body.
Chains hung off my sides for decoration, same as it did on my pants and boots. I kept my color scheme, plain jet black. I wasn't about to give up my wolf ways just because a human said that I needed a better fashion choice if I was going to fight crime. This fabric I used was still Eastern pack made, but much more flexible and stronger, giving me more room to move.
"Where did you ever learn to make outfits?" Stars asked, admiring the neat stitching on my top. "Your teacher must have been very talented."
"Learned from Medlin, she taught me a lot about the basic jobs in the pack, especially medical tips and tricks." Really, Shamon ordered that I learned how to sow and about medicine, because he believed that an alpha should know everything. He understands that I don't want to be alpha, but he still strives in the best for me, no matter what path I take.
Star was extremely excited when I asked her to help me design my new outfit, and thanks to her help, I finished in under a day. We had grown close over the past few weeks, going out in public more and just taking part in entertaining yet girly games. She was kind of like the sister I never had.
Again, I feel Wonder Boys presence beside me. "You have been improving lately, and it seems as if you have truly earned your place on the team." He sets his hand in my shoulder. "How are you holding up?"
I simply shrug. "It's been tough, but if I just keep my pack in mind, I can keep moving forward."
Star had left our side and was looking through a box of accessories on my dresser, leaving me and Robin along to talk. "I know it's been hard on you, and I understand that. If it makes you feel any better, you're doing it. You're actually working with us as a team." His eyes grew soft. "Shamon would be proud at your progress."
I give him a small nod, but was cut off by a yawn. I quickly tried to hide it, but I wasn't quick enough. "Are you sure you're ok?" He asked. "You've been very tired recently."
"It's nothing, trust me." I lied. "I guess my mind has just been clouded with all the practices and those stupid new threats you've been stressing us about."
It wasn't because of that. Truthfully, the reason of my drowsiness if because I've been sneaking out almost every night to meet X, and we just pass the time by goofing off around the city. He really helps me calm down and just forget about the Titans, about back home, and even about the demon. He just lets me be myself. It's part of the reason I've actually been able to put up with all this hero nonsense, I have him to go to at the end o the day and just shake everything off.
"Averi." I'm snapped back to reality by Robin's voice. "Slade isn't going to lay a hand on you, I guarantee it."
I wanted to scoff and say that one psychopath didn't scare me, but I had to keep my friendship with X a secret. Who knows what would happen if the Titans found out about us, I could even get him captured.
I just settle with another nod. "I'm not afraid, but I know he's out there. I'm worried about you and the team getting hurt." That was totally a lie, what did I look like, their babysitter?
"Don't worry about us." He waves his hand in the air. "We have fought Slade before, and we will do it again if it comes to that."
We were interrupted by Star flying back over with a feather clipping she found in the box. "Is this some relic that your people wear?" She asked, holding it up so she could see it better. "It is very pretty."
The thing she held was something that clipped in your hair, and it kind of resembled what earthlings call a dream catcher. The clip part was a small wooden slate that had a yin yang carved into it, then small strings dangling with feathers on the end. They were my feathers from my wings, and the relic was something I made many years ago. Northern crystal beads decorated the strings, giving it the perfect touch.
She reaches up and pins it in my hair, smoothing it out as the tips of the feathers grazes my shoulder. Looking in the mirror, I could tell that my outfit was finally complete.
This was the new me.
