(Karen POV)
Whore.Long-legged, green eyed, perfect smile having fucking WHORE! ARGH!
I stomped into the kitchen fuming because of her...again! I knew from the second I interviewed her that she was going to be trouble for me. One second she's the innocent down on her luck beauty queen and the next she's tonguing down the only man I've ever loved.
The kitchen staff just finished laying out the huge buffet for the children's visit at the ranch tonight. Everyone had a job and was so busy they didn't notice my tear stained face. I hated crying in front of people. I couldn't let him..no, her see me like this. One way or another Michael was going to be mine and no tawdry, limo make out session with a trollop was going to ruin the plans I made for us.
I saw a glittering silver platter full of chocolate covered strawberries (Michaels favorite) and popped one into my mouth as I sat down on the last step of the grand staircase. Calm down, Karen. I said to myself. You can't lose your cool and say something you can't take back. This will not be Studio 54 all over again.
I smoothed my black dress and plastered a smile on my face as I re-entered the kitchen. If I want my plan to work tonight, I cannot show them how upset I am. I've got a sure fire way to make sure Michael will never trust Alexandria again. He'll never be able to forgive her after tonight. If Michael has any weakness, it's sick children and pretty women. They are his kryptonite. I sauntered back into the kitchen as I heard Alexandria entering through the kitchen doors.
(Alexandria POV)
It was midday and the sky was beginning to take on a tapestry of blue and pink colors. The kitchen smelled sooo good. The aromatic smell of the pumpkin custard and fried chicken soothed my jolted senses. Today has been such a whirlwind, all I wanted to do was sleep it off but the children's visit was tonight! We've been running around all day trying to pull it off, I couldn't miss it! I spotted Broomhilda in the center of the room directing the wait staff on how to present the food and answering catering questions all with a huge smile plastered on her face. She caught my lingering gaze and winked at me. She really has been somewhat of a mothering figure to me. Considering the big move into the ranch, it has been comforting to say the least."Alex! Little help here?!" I turned around to see Michael swamped with children hanging onto his shirt, tugging at his pants, grinning from ear to ear. I couldn't help but return his lazy smile. "Well, hello, Michael!" I started, "and who are your friends here?!" I crouched down to shake the hand of a young girl with a very low hair cut and a recent incision scar on her scalp. "My name is Annabelle and I just had my fifth brain surgery-- but it is all worth it to come and see Michael, ma'am! He's the best!" she squealed, clinging to his leg. I listened to each of the children introduce themselves in a similar way: some suffering from cancer, some with inoperable fatal afflictions. But each and every one...with a beautiful smile on their face.
The fifteen invited children all glommed outside onto the front lawn as the waning sun cast a rich orange hue across the entire estate. Omer was amid a fierce game of tag with one of the young children as he stopped and held out his hand to me. I looked around feigning surprise and pointed to myself, "me?" I asked. He nodded revealing a gap toothed smile with a mouth full of pumpkin custard, "it's time for the amusement rides, Miss Alex!" Omer chided with a peculiar accent. The children cheered at Omer's declaration as we all began walking down the cobblestone path toward the huge attractions. O-Bee grabbed my hand and simultaneously grabbed Michaels hand; the three of us walked hand in hand as Omer swung his legs to and fro. I looked over to Michael and saw his ever present smile as we continued lifting Omer off of the ground in unison.
