You swung your sword, easily getting to the soft, weak flesh beneath the thick fur. The wolf, howling in pain from the blow, ran off, leaving a trail of blood in its wake. Smiling with satisfaction, you relaxed from your fighting stance, pushing your (h/c) hair from your face.
Turning your gaze you noticed your companions, Fionna and Cake, finishing off the pack leader, "Was that the last of them?" you called back, attempting to get their attention.
"And you better not come back," Cake hissed, her back arching and her tail bristling, "no one messes with my babies!"
"Yeah," Fionna turned to you, breathing heavily, clearly exhausted from the previous battle, "that's all of them."
You sighed with relief, sheathing your slightly bloodied sword, making a mental note to clean it later, "Good! We should report back to Prince Gumball then, huh?"
Fionna's usual stoic composure faltered, being replaced by a girlish blush, "Oh, right..."
You shared a knowing glance with Cake before she stretched out her body in order to carry the two of you, "Let's go, babies!"
Sharing a jovial laugh together, you hopped onto Cake's back, merrily telling jokes and recounting stories on your way to the Candy Kingdom.
"Do you remember Prince Gumball's party?" you asked, recalling a past memory.
"Of course," Fionna answered, glancing back at you, "how could we forget? It was the day we first met."
Three months ago, Prince Gumball had thrown a party to celebrate the extended period of peace in the Candy Kingdom. People from all over Aaa had attended, so you saw this as an opportunity to meet new people, specifically ones looking for an aspiring adventurer.
"Remember when the Ice Queen showed up?" Cake laughed, "That woman is mad obsessed with Prince Gumball! Maybe even more obsessed than you, Fionna."
The young warrior bristled at that comment, her face burning a brighter crimson, "I am not obsessed!"
You laughed as they bantered back and forth while your mind drifted back to the memory. Prince Gumball was just about to give a speech when the Ice Queen suddenly burst through the wall. She screamed about how she had come for the Prince and how no one would be able to stop her. Before she could even take a step towards the Prince, however, she was knocked to the side by what appeared to be a brown and white cat. You watched on in amazement as the cat's fluffed up tail expanded and sharpened at the tip, creating the appearance of a mace. A young girl wearing blue clothing stood next to her, a white hat that covered everything but her face and small strand of blonde hair adorned her head. From her green backpack she drew a sword, lowering herself into a fighting stance.
"Though," Fionna started, breaking you out of your thoughts, she looked back at you, her gaze darkening, "we didn't even stand a chance. The Ice Queen caught us off-guard. If you hadn't stepped in, we'd be goners for sure."
Cake nodded in agreement, causing a small smile to form on your face. You were proud of your actions that day. The battle between the Ice Queen and the two adventurers seemed to last forever, but it was clear that the Ice Queen was winning. Both adventurers stopped, unable to summon the strength to fight anymore, and glared up at their approaching foe. Seeing the danger of the situation, you knew you had to act fast. Your hand tightened nervously around the only weapon you owned. Carefully, you snuck around the Ice Queen while she was gloating over her victory and, just before she was about to strike the exhausted adventurers, you whacked her over the head with a frying pan, knocking her out cold.
