After training and training for literally two days straight, I ordered the team to get ready for the factory mission. Everyone had a new, somewhat powerful aura. As if we'd all gone through a metamorphosis. I didn't know exactly what it was, but something told me that we were ready. We were prepared to do anything we could to stop this doomsday. Trust me, if I wasn't completely sure we would've trained for another week or so.
"Where's Tristan?" Kira asked, tying a few pouches to her whip and wrapping it around her waist.
I pointed out the back door, where the sunset bathed the hallway in a brilliant orange. "Probably having dinner."
She nodded with a mildly disgusted look on her face. "That mutt has turned me off buying a dog. Ever."
Estella joined us in the main room, all costumed up and ready to go. She was the only one out of the original crime lords members that didn't have a new costume. Which reminded me...
"Hey Stell! You got those egg bombs I gave you?" I asked.
She furrowed her eyebrows, which creased her black eye mask that resembled a beak, and showed me the little pouch of bombs tied to her belt, along with her five signature quills.
"Yeah, I've got them," she said. "Are you ok? You seem, if anything... happier?"
"I noticed that." Kira narrowed her eyes. "What's gotten into you? Or are you just finally realising how unintelligent you are."
I smiled evilly at my sister. I'm going to mix your shampoo with honey. "I suppose I'm just excited. This is the first time in a while that we've been out and about. Other than the few shopping trips to get food."
Someone cleared their throat upon entering the room. "Who bought the groceries? I had to smash my piggy bank twice!"
Ruby crossed her arms, which required a bit of effort due to the crossbow on her right arm. A number of arrows were threaded through her belt and a couple of ninja stars gleamed at her right hip. Her costume was mainly brown, with spots of orange here and there that surprisingly matched well.
"The fact that we had to buy food at all is insulting." Thea complained, throwing open the door to their room and marching out in a green, black and brown costume. Her mace swung dangerously in her grip and I had to resist the urge to take it off her.
"Is everyone ready?" I asked, gazing around at all the costumes. "Wait, we're missing Arrow."
"Right here." Joel emerged from out the back and shouldered his bow. "Just doing some last minute shooting."
Ruby sighed audibly. "I was meant to do that as well..."
I waggled my eyebrows, which earned a mild groan to my right from Estella. "You'll get plenty of target practise on The Samurai."
"True." She smirked, which led to a second, louder groan.
"Stop learning from him." Estella growled at her cousin. "I don't need a second imbecile to deal with."
"You love me." I whispered.
Estella stared at the ceiling, which surprisingly didn't stare back.
