Chapter 3 - Oh, Now This Is What I'm Talking About!
"Oh my gosh, this beach is perfect!" I squealed as I ran on the soft warm sand. The waves were definitely bigger here than they were at home and it made my body bubble with excitement. Rosanne walked behind me with a smile on her lips.
"What are you smiling at?" I asked, smiling myself.
"Oh nothing, it's just fun to see you get so happy over water of all things. Why not boys instead?" I raised an eyebrow at her, did she seriously want to have that conversation now?
"Why should I get happy over boys when all they do is cheat? I've seen the jocks at our school, all they do is play around." I muttered angrily. I had been popular in freshman year and I could tell by the looks the boys, mostly jocks though gave me meant that all they wanted to do was to sleep with me and nothing more. Luckily I discovered surfing which soon became my obsession and I fell from the popular group to the normal group, not that I minded. It gave me some more peace and quiet so I could focus on surfing.
"But you know you'll never get a relationship if you keep avoiding boys and not all of them are cheating idiots." She pulled her sandals off and sat down on the ground, digging her feet into the sand.
"I know that but right now it's surfing that's my life. I don't have time for romance yet." I mumbled and looked out in the horizon.
"So you say but you keep whining about never getting one." Rosanne mumbled. I shot a glare in her direction before I pulled my T-shirt off.
"Hey, when did you change into your swimming suit?" She exclaimed surprised with big eyes, making me smirk.
"How about before we left? I can't just look at the water and not dive into it." I laughed and dived into the sparkling blue sea. Feeling the water on my skin felt so good and I did a couple of butterfly kicks just for fun before I swam back up to the surface.
"It's so warm! Come on out!" I yelled at Rosanne with a smile, she shook her head in disagreement.
"No, I don't have my swimming suit on like someone else I know. Maybe tomorrow?" I shrugged and continued to swim a little bit before I dived back into the sea. It was so crystal clear and beautiful, I couldn't wait to try out the waves tomorrow. I smiled to myself as I broke the surface yet again but was met by Rosanne's frantic yelling. My gaze followed her pointing finger and looked to my left, a gasp managed to escape my lips.
Jay Moore, one of the most famous surfers from USA were surfing on a big wave just 20 meteres away from us. I gaped at him, he sure was as pretty as he was on TV and he even had better skills than I thought. My chances at winning would be like zero if he was entering. I walked back in to the shore, back to Rosanne who was practically drooling over him.
"I think I need to start practicing already if I'm going to beat him." I muttered and looked as he performed and air reverse, making it look like it was the easiest thing in the world.I had just managed to make it through on it one time without falling. Yeah, I was so doomed.
"Wanna go and talk to him?" Rosanne smirked and wiggled her eyebrows.
"Oh yeah and what am I gonna say?" I asked sarcastic. "Hey, I just happened to see you surfing. Wanna be friends?"
