I Never Left

2 years passed neither of the two girls talked not even once.

The way they broke up was too weird and no one understood why it happened. They used to love each other so much that everyone was confused when they got the news. Lauren moved from Miami to California to be with Camila but after two months of being together the two broke up. Dinah, Camila's best friend, tried to bring them back together but both said they didn't want to.

Camila was finishing College and Lauren was working in a little book store trying to get money for her and her little 1 year old boy, Thomas. He was a beautiful baby boy with Lauren's eyes and smile. Normani, Lauren's best friend, walked inside the book store to talk with Lauren. 

"Hey Lo! How are you feeling?" "Really tired Mani" Lauren answering with a little yawn. "I can see... Why don't you take 2 or 3 days off and go somewhere? I'll take care of Thomas" she suggested. "You know I can't do that. I need this job, without a degree I won't find a job anywhere else."

Normani looked at her with a sad smile but had an idea. "Why don't we go out tonight? You don't have work tomorrow and I can ask my parents to take care of the baby. I'm sure they won't mind." Lauren thought about the offer for a minute but she knew she couldn't deny it or her best friend wouldn't stop bothering her. "Okay, fine. We can go" Normani clapped her hands excited. Later that night Lauren decided to wear black jeans and her favorite flannel, she met Normani outside the house and they both made their way to the club. 

"I'm gonna go get us a drink" Normani said while Lauren walked around trying to find a quiet place. She was too tired to be around all those people, she just wanted to go home and cuddle with her son. That little boy was her pride and joy even on her worst days he could make her forget all of her worries and problems with just his smile, he was just so perfect she didn't know what she did to deserve that amazing little boy.

"I see you haven't changed" Lauren heard behind her feeling chills all over her body when she heard the familiar voice. She turned around and saw Camila, the love of her life. Lauren never forgot her, she never went out with anyone else after their break up. She never got rid of her sweaters and presents. "How are you Lauren?" Camila asked after seeing Lauren's shocked face "G-good... I'm good, what about you?" she asked while her body began to shake slightly. "I'm fine, just a bit tired because it's my last year of college I graduate in May" Camila admitted with a smile on her face and one hand scratching the back of her neck. "Oh really? How is it going?" Lauren said feeling slightly less nervous. "It's going good... i'm a few months away from having the job of my dreams. Hopefully next year I'll be working at a hospital." They both smiled and gosh, Lauren missed that smile so much. "I'm glad everything is going well. It was always your dream to go to college and it's close to the end" They made a little chat and Camila finally looked deeply in Lauren's eyes.

She felt weak when she saw those beautiful eyes that she missed. "I can see you have been working a lot" Camila said noticing the huge bags Lauren had under her eyes. "Yeah, I have been working everyday so I can keep a house over my head and have the baby fed." 

Lauren saw Camila's sad face when she mentioned the baby. "How is he?" "He's great. Growing up too fast but he'll always be my little Thomas."

"Thomas?!" Camila asked shocked "You....you named him Thomas??" 

Lauren played with her fingers shyly. "Ummm... yeah, I did! That's what we always wanted."

"He's not my kid. Why did you give him that name?" Camila asked feeling really curious, Lauren felt an overwhelming sadness remembering the night when it all happened and started crying. "Because I lied to you Camila!" "W-what do you mean you lied?" Lauren started crying harder and Camila held her close "Shh... Calm down. Let's go outside and you'll tell me the truth Lauren. I know you didn't cheat... I can feel it."

They went outside and Lauren started talking. "One night when I was coming home, a man with a mask stopped me and raped me. I couldn't stop him because he was too strong and I was so scared. At the time you were really stressed with school so when I found out I was pregnant I decided to tell you I cheated so you could finish school without having to worry about having to feed and support a family when in reality I was raped. I knew that would make me lose you but I wanted to do what was best for you... Which was let you finish school."

Camila was shocked she couldn't believe what Lauren just told her.

"I'm sorry..." Lauren whispered and tried to get up to leave but Camila stopped her by grabbing her hand and looked her into her eyes knowing that would make her stay. Lauren sat back down and looked at Camila who asked her for more information.

"After I left I found a little house that I could afford until I got a job. Since then I have been working at a little book store not that far away, nothing fancy but it pays the bills, the car and the food. After that I met a girl her name is Normani and she has been my best friend helping me with everything I need. Actually I tried to get a job in every book store hoping that I would find you again... I didn't think it would be in a club when I look like crap and feel like shit" Lauren finished and she looked at Camila. "You don't look like crap. Actually I forgot how beautiful you are." Camila said touching Lauren's face making the other girl close her eyes and enjoying her warmth and touch in that moment.

"I never forgot you... I-I still love you Camila" Lauren said but immediately regretted what she said when she felt Camila's hand leave her face so she decided to talk again. "I know you probably have someone else by now, you're still young and you're gorgeous and don't have anything to hold you back like a kid to take care of or anything so you probably moved on and already and a girlf-" Lauren stopped rambling when Camila kissed her. It was a slow but passionate kiss, both girls missed their physical connection.

"Would you stop that? I'm pretty sure that when you were only 16 I promised you I would love you forever and always and even after the last star died and I still see stars shining in the sky with not a care in the universe. I don't want anyone else I want you Lolo, only you!" Camila said kissing Lauren again and they stayed in each other's arms for a few more minutes until Camila decided to break the silence.

"So... Thomas right? When am I going to meet my baby?" Lauren immediately looked at Camila shocked by her words . "Are you sure you want this Camz? You are just about to finish school, kids are a lot handle" she said/asked nonetheless with a huge smile. "Yes Lauren. That's what we always wanted, not under these circumstances but we always wanted a baby, a family together. Thomas deserves a real family, you deserve both deserve everything" Camila explained to her girl. 

"So you'll come back Camz?" Camila kissed Lauren's lips and smiled "I never left baby girl."
