Dark windy night, everywhere pitch black, the only source of light being the fairly white moon setting its gaze just outside my bedroom window. I glance at the digital clock sitting by my bed side, seeing it was just ten pm, I roll out of bed, settling my feet on the cold marble floor.

"Another sleepless night." I sigh, trotting quietly out of my room and onto the balcony loaded with bed sheets, blankets and pillows. It's my favourite place to go when I couldn't sleep, pretty much every day. I made it a habit to lie down on the myriad of blankets on the floor and gaze at the stars wondering how something so small could hold such beauty.

"Still up Vera?" My mums voice startles me. Her footfall grows louder.

"Yeah... "

"What's wrong tink?" Worry written all over her face.

"I just wish I wasn't so different, I wish I was beautiful like the stars." I say, looking at the heavenly bodies in the sky.

"Vera dear." She sits beside me. "Do you know why I call you tink?" I shake my head. "Tink, like Tinkerbell. When tinkerbell came to be, people despised her. They thought she was a mistake, they thought she was an abomination, they thought she would make a mess. one day Tinkerbell proved them wrong and she was adored by many." A smile dances on her lips as she tucks a strand of hair behind my ear.

"That's really--"

I was interrupted by loud excessive banging on the front door. My mum runs downstairs, wondering who could be visiting this late. I trail behind her as she checks the windows for who it was. The banging becomes louder and a voice vibrates through the room.

"OPEN THE DOOR OR WE'LL HAVE TO KNOCK IT DOWN!"

My mum looks over to me the expression on her face was clear, it's fear. She starts inhaling and exhaling loudly.

"Mum what's going on?" I ask, tears rolling down my face. She jogs over to me signalling me to keep quiet. "Go get your father." Her voice breaking, before locking all the windows and doors.

I did as I was told and went to look for my dad. He's already running down the stairs, wearing the same look of fear as my mother. Behind him was my older brother, his face. Hard and emotionless.

This is serious.

"It's them, they're here for us. You guys have to-- " My dads words cut short by a loud thud and the big ol' wooden door comes tumbling down.

Thousands of huge husky men in black suits rush in and ferociously grab my parents, hand cuffing them and dragging them towards the door.

"Mum! Dad!" Aaron runs over trying to fight one of them but got pushed back furiously, shattering the glass centre table.

"Aaron my boy. Take care of your sister, don't let anything happen to her, remember our training. All we've talked about." My dad keeps struggling to break free but it was no use.

"My babies!" My mum sobs. "Please! I beg you! They are only children! They need us!" Struggling to escape. "I need them!" One of the guard's hand meets her face, leaving a big red hand print on the side of her face.

Aaron pounces at him but gets thrown into something else.

I am paralysed.

With fear.

With anger.

With disgust.

Oh lord why is this happening?

"Where are you taking them!" I shout, blood rushing to my face, cheeks wet from the sobbing.

"Somewhere they won't be able to cause more trouble. Now be a good girl and shut your yapping, you little freak show.

Freak show.

My mum stomps on his feet and broke out of his tight grip, rushing over to me. "Vera my beautiful girl. I want you to listen to me okay?" She says, both eyes turning red from crying.

I nod frantically as she put her two hands on my chin and tilts my head up to look at her. "I love you tink. I love you and I will always love you, that's why I want you to have this... " She says, grasping something out of the pocket of her gown.

A bracelet.

Her hand shakes as she puts it on my wrist. The metal, cold against my skin. It had an odd pattern on it, one that I have never seen before.

She kisses my fore head and says, "Whatever you do don't take it off. I love y--" Another man drags her away from me and out the door.

"I love you Vera!" Yells dad as he was being carried away.

"Please! Wait!" I shout but they'd already gone.

I lose my balance and fall to ground bruising my knees and I break into series of sobs. Aaron's footfall grows louder and faster  and sits on the ground beside me, cradling me like a baby. He repeats the same words, "It's going to be okay... " Judging by the helplessness in his voice I could tell it wouldn't.

Nothing will ever be okay.
