Chapter One

Waking up, I stretch and think of the day ahead. Well, more like night since we do not have daytime anymore. On the Planet of Darkness, the sun cannot be seen no matter what. With my good vampire eyes, I do not need the sun anyway. Actually, what my parents have told me is that the sun has killed many of my ancestors.

You see, my kind used to not live on this planet. My ancestors had lived on this planet called Earth but they had to move along with the rest of the creatures that live on this planet with us. I am not sure why they decided to move from Earth, I can only guess that it is because of the deadly sun. But it doesn't make sense for my friend Becky, a unicorn, to live here since her ancestors used to live on Earth as well. She told me that her family had told her that her ancestors had told them of how wonderful the sun was and how it warmed their spirits. If that was the case, then why are they here and not back on the planet Earth?

It just makes no sense to me. I climb out of my coffin and jump fifty feet into the air to my only window. We, my parents and I, live in a castle on the top of the hill that face the village. There aren't many windows in my bedroom since there isn't a point for looking out. I can do that when I go outside and see what the witches has decided to make the weather that day. They can make any weather except for sunny. They could probably try to do it but since the sun has killed my ancestors off, my parents has decided to completely banned the sun. No one has complained yet since they don't even know what the sun is even is.

"Carol! Are you awake yet?" Mother Goose says as she enters my room.

Mother Goose isn't called that because she is super nice and takes care of me in every way. No, she is, indeed, a goose. She even has a huge beak and beady eyes. Her white feathers are long and shiny. She awaits for me by my coffin. I jump down and greet her.

"Hello, Mother Goose." I smile brightly at her.

"How did you sleep?" She asks me.

"Very nicely. Thank you."

"Your parents are waiting for you in the dining room. They would appreciate it if you hurry." Mother Goose said right before she exits my room.

I quickly change into a light purple dress and black flats. I comb my long black hair and put it in a ponytail. I rush down the long, spiny staircase to the first floor. My bedroom is at the very top of the tower that is higher than the rest of the castle. I go through the door of the staircase and enter the giant hallway. Past the servant quarters, I enter the dining room. Both of my parents are sitting at the long dining table that can easily sit up to thirty people.

My mother smiles at me and give me the motion to sit down at the table. The resemblance between my mother and I is unbelievable: we could easily pass as the same person. We both have long black hair, pale skin, brown eyes, and we are both short. My father is a strong, built man who has brown hair and light eyes. The only thing I share with my father is the pale skin, but I also share that with every other vampire.

"Carol, you have finally join us." My father voice booms throughout the room.

"Father, I have just risen out of my coffin." I told him.

My mother tsk at me before saying, "now, now. You know a princess needs to be up bright and early to face the day."

Night." I mumble.

"Excuse me?" My mother asks me.

"I said night. We do not have days here, only nighttime and darkness." I reminded her.

My mother sighs in frustration, "you are quite something."

"What's for breakfast? I am famished." I say right before my stomach rumbles as if to make my point.

"The same as always." My father says, quite unamused. "Fruit."

"The only thing we can eat. That, and meat." My mother reminded me for the, like, two-thousands of times.

I protest in a mutter. I am so tired of eating the same thing every day. I may still be consider as a child but I am over a hundred years old. I have seen many things in this life and have tried hardly anything. It is frustrating.

Mother Goose comes in the dining room along with Red Hen, they both carry our meals and lay them down before us. I take a glance of the food and groan; a bowl of fruit, a banana, and apple juice. According to my grandparents, who have been long dead, there used to be tales about vampires and how we only drank blood to live. Well, let me tell you that that is wrong. We eat and live off nature. Nature is very important to us and we must protect it.

That is what my father does as King. He protects this darken planet as best as he is able. My mother aids him as Queen. She brings peace to this world and to the creatures that lives here. What she cannot protect by words, father must protect with muscles and power.

I am a princess and my duty is to learn what it takes to be a princess, to learn what my powers are and how to control them, and how to bring peace to this world. I am reaching to the age where both of my parents are eager to know what kind of powers I control. Each vampire is different; some control fire, some control water, and some even control minds.
