"Princess Carol, you need to learn how to access your powers. Try again." My mother commands me. I have been working for a few hours already, trying to learn what power I might have. So far, it has been a huge fail. I do not understand this. I am at the age where I should be using my powers, mastering my powers, and grow stronger because of my powers. Instead, I am still trying to see what I can do. I have tried forming fire balls in my hands, moving things with my mind, flying, breathing underwater, but nothing has happened. The water was the worst attempt ever!

Honestly, I really want to give up on this whole power thing and call it a day (or night). Unfortunately, my mother is a persistent queen who will not allow me to stop this practice until I find my power. I know I am wasting my time and hers but she will not listen. My father got impatient with me a while back ago so he's not here to see me find my power anymore. He probably knows that today is not the day that I get my powers. Why my mother lets him go but not me makes no sense.

"Mother, I am tired. I can try this again tomorrow," I try to pursue her.

It doesn't work, "no, Carol," my mother shakes her head at me.

I groan. I face the carrot on a plate and squint my eyes at it, real hard. I am trying to freeze it to see if there is a chance of me having ice powers. After many, long seconds; nothing happens. I am so done with it. Maybe I am the first vampire without powers. That should affect me in a negative way, but right now I couldn't care less. I decide to go against my mother orders and flee.

"Princess Carol, get back over here!" My mother raises her voice at me. I ignore her.

I ran so fast, I was able to find Adolf in thirty seconds. Well, I find his wolf-form at least; he is at the outskirt of the woods, crawling on his hind legs, looking at his prey. I watch him, fascinated. The prey, which is a harmless hippogriff, doesn't notice that Adolf is near. The hippogriff is a bird-like horse. It has a head of a bird, wings, and a body of a horse. It is a lovely creature and Adolf's favorite meal. Adolf watches the hippogriff intensely, waiting to make a move on it.

I remember Adolf telling me the first time he tried killing a hippogriff. He told me that he didn't wait long enough for his attack because he got impatient and the hippogriff attacked him and nearly killed Adolf. Adolf would have died if his team wasn't nearby. His team, the other werewolves, were hunting during that time as well. The team always hunted with Adolf when he was a young pup to teach him the ways of hunting. Now that Adolf isn't a young pup anymore, he is free to hunt whenever he likes. Occasionally the team still go hunting together like the older days, but now each member does his/ or her own thing.

Adolf pounces on the hippogriff, taking it down. The hippogriff cried out as Adolf digs his canines into the hippogriff's skin, right underneath its wing so that it can't fly away. I can see the blood gushing out, going all over Adolf's face. He doesn't care though, well, his wolf-form doesn't. The hippogriff attempts to bite Adolf but luckily Adolf is faster and manages to dodge the bite. The hippogriff then slams Adolf's body into a tree, making Adolf let go. The hippogriff scratches Adolf. I watch in horror at the scene. As a friend, I should help. But as his best friend, I know I need to let him handle his fights by himself. It's what he wants after all, to be able to protect himself.

Adolf ignores the scratch marks he has and attacks the hippogriff again. The hippogriff jumps up to dodge Adolf. Adolf lands on the ground and turns around to face the hippogriff. The hippogriff stands on its hind legs, waving its front legs at Adolf. Adolf jumps to the left and immediately bites the hippogriff. The hippogriff cries out once more. Adolf continues to bite the creature. I can tell that the hippogriff is near dead.

Once dead, Adolf changes back into his human-form and sinks down to his knees. I walk toward Adolf now that it is safe to do so. Adolf has warned me to never approach him as a wolf in a battle, he says that he can't control what or who he attacks.

"Nice kill," I compliment him and sink to the ground beside him. The hippogriff lays there motionless, its fur is flattened with its own blood. I look at Adolf to see if he is hurt by the scratches. He is. He has three huge gashes on his chest. His shirt is smeared with blood.

"You're hurt," I touch his shirt and he winces.

"Yeah, so touching me makes the pain go away," Ashton says, sarcastically.

"Sorry," I apologize to which he tsk me.

"You are not supposed to apologize for anything. If your mother was here, she would chew you out."

"Well, she's not here," I remind me. "You need to be bandage up."

Adolf shakes his head at me, "no. I'll be fine."

"No you're not. You need help."

"Carol, please. I'm okay," he assures me.

"As your princess and future queen, I demand that you go to a doctor," I order him. He looks at me but smiles. He must be happy that I am taking my duty as a princess serious. He allows me to take him to the doctor. So I do. I allow him to get on my back as I run back to the castle to see Mother Goose.
