"Can you please come back later, I'm waiting for someone and I'll order when he gets here" Iris pleaded. "Oh honey, you've been here for fifteen minutes already! Just goddamn order a drink!" The waitress exclaimed gesticulating, almost swinging her hands to the point of dropping her orders. Iris stared at the waitress awkwardly and waved for her to leave. "Fine hun but, giiiiirl...you got stood up didn't ya? By what's his face? Michael?" She said with a southern accent while raising her eyebrow at Iris. Just as she left, a boy with dark hair and an afro and dark hair simply happened to overhear the waitress and swiftly sat down at the same table as Iris. All he said was "Hi, sorry I'm late! You won't believe what happened! My bike broke down and I had to walk here!" The boy smiled kindly at Iris. She looked like she was about to burst into tears and her face was a bright flamingo pink. "I-I-I mean, who are you..?" She said in a hushed tone leaning in. They locked eyes for a split second "My name is Sam, that's all you need to know for now. What's yours?" He whispered cautiously so the nosy waitress wouldn't hear.
Iris blushed looking frazzled "Listen, it's nice that you're doing this for me but please just go, he'll come." She said glumly. "Thank you though, and my name is Iris."
"Please, I've got some time to kill, besides he's a jerk for doing this to someone like you!" He said angrily louder than intended. "Someone like m-me?"
"Well, yes, you." He smiled. "I've seen you around school a lot and I think you're really nice and funny" Then he muttered, "And you're really cute too.." Iris looked confused and surprised. "I'm sorry I didn't really hear the last part, and thanks for the 'someone like me' part. That was really nice of you."
The waitress came back clearly faking a smile,"Would you like to order now?"
"Yes, yes we would!" Sam said excitedly. "Don't worry Iris lunch's on me"
"Oh. Okay, that's really nice of you" She lightened up and smiled. Sam reached for Iris's hand but she pulled away and and slightly blushed. "Okay! Ya'll love birds done now?! I got a job to do and bitches to wait on." She looked exhausted and like she wanted to slap someone. Sam laughed quietly and blushed a little, making Iris blush some more. "I'd like lemonade and umm-" The waitress cut here off, "Food? Yeah! We got that!" The waitress said sarcastically. "Listen lady, my girlfriend has been sitting here patiently waiting for me, we don't really need your attitude," Sam said, "And I'd like a sandwich, what about you, Iris?" He added.
Iris smiled when she heard Sam say that. "You know, we don't have to stay here, Sam..."
"We can go out somewhere much nicer than this place," He grabbed her hand and they walked out together and Sam turned around and flipped the waitress off. Sam noticed the waitress' name tag, So her name is Kat, I'll have to talk to her manager. He smirked at the thought of the waitress getting fired.
