Cass woke up the next morning, around lunch time, with the sun blinding her eyes as they cracked open. Her hair was really tangled and messed up and her clothes had ice cream and tear stains all over them. Next her to Calum sat up shirtless and yawning. He was smiling until he looked at her and said, "are you okay?" Cass turned to him and faced him with sad eyes. They began welling up with tears, but she shook them off. "Yeah I'm fine. I'm fine." She spread a smile across her face and hugged pulled Calum into a hug. "I'm gonna be fine," she whispered into the crook of his neck. He planted a kiss on to her head and said, "good. Do you need anything right now?" She pulled away from him and answered, "um..I think I'm just gonna go take a walk.."
"A walk?"
"Yes, a walk."
"..."
"..."
"A walk."
"Have fun"
Calum laid back down and turned away pulling the blanket over himself. Cass grabbed some clothes from her dresser and walked into the bathroom. She pulled on black tight combat pants and black tank top, battled her hair into a ponytail, laced up her boots, and wrapped a weapons belt around her waist. She splashed water on to her face, but something was wrong. Her face was still dry. Well at least it was for a few seconds. I swear my face was dry...
She walked out of the bathroom, picked up the duffel bag next to the door, and peeked outside the dorm room's door to see if anyone was outside. The coast was clear. She tiptoed down the stairs and ran around the lake in the middle of the dorm building and ran to the other side. She looked behind her to see if anyone saw her, then ran into the forest of trees next to the dorm building. She didn't know where she was going, but she just decided to follow her instincts. She walked through the leafy environment and memorized her path as she went. She moved a branch out of the way and found an enormous oak tree in a place cleared of other trees. It was beautiful. This was it. This was her training spot. She dropped the duffel bag at the base of the tree and unzipped it. Inside were hundreds of weapons. She wasn't really sure how, but they weren't confiscated at the airport. They weren't even detected at the airport. It was just as if they were invisible to the people working there.
During the remainder of the morning, Cass trained fast and hard. She shot arrows, slashed blades, threw knives, punched, kicked, worked out, anything and everything to keep her mind off of the asshat who broke her heart. "YOU.FUCKING.ASSHAT.AGGGHHH!" She screamed as she plunged a blade through the nearest object. He wasn't worth the pain. He never talked to her often, he wasn't there when she needed him the most, he constantly kept flirting with other girls, he was obsessed with sex, he was a horrible boyfriend.
Cass lay down exhausted underneath the small ray of sunlight peeking through the leaves of the colossal tree. She turned to look at the tree. "I wonder if..." Cass eyes the tree with curiousity. She then got up, and started climbing the tree. One foot after another, one foot after another, be careful, don't rush it. Cass repeated the instructions her dad taught her when she was younger. Her dad was the one who gave her all those weapons. Her dad taught her everything. Then on a ship to California, there was a shipwreck. Cass and her dad were the only ones who survived, but Cass' dad disappeared among the waves of the great blue blanket of water.
Although, one thing haunted her. One thing from that night that haunted her to this day. Breathing underwater. She was breathing underwater at the shipwreck. Well at least she could've sworn she did. She passed out on a raft and woke up he next morning in an unfamiliar home. It turned out to be her stepmom's home, her home in Cali. She lost focus replaying the events from that night, and nearly slipped off of the tree. She was trying to reach near the top of the tree. It seemed impossible but she was willing to take the challenge. There was a branch at the top that was bigger than the other ones. It was perfect for building a tree house she's always dreamed of. But her dad left before that dream could come true...
Someone began walking towards the area so she went around to the other side of the tree as fast as she could and hid. "CASS? CASS WHERE ARE YOU!?" Calum walked into the alcove wearing gear similar to hers. He had his hands cupped around his mouth and was calling out her name. She smiled and jumped down landing on her feet, then jumped on to Calum causing them both to fall on to the ground and roll around. "OH GOD CASS YOU SCARED ME FFFFFF" Calum shrieked and thrashed around trying to process what just happened causing Cass to smile and laugh. Calum let his head fall down as he breathes heavily. "So how are you doing?" He said stroking her hair with his fingers. "I'm okay. He's just an asshat. He isn't worth hurting for. Besides, I'm yours now, right?" Cass looked into his eyes. He closed his eyes, sighed, and muttered one last sentence,
"You're mine now."
