CHAPTER TWO

CHELSEA

After spending a night in the same bed as my new step-brother, feeling my body get drained of air and my lungs dry out, I woke up quite early to go for a walk around the neighborhood.
I walked down the stairs, my Nike trainers surrounding my feet like a smooth cloud. My fingers glided over the golden colored staircase as I took each step carefully, as I hadn't found comfort in the house just yet. But after only one night, I guess you couldn't blame me.
Neither my mother or Phillip was awake yet, so I quietly tiptoed out and silently closed the door behind me. As soon as I stepped out into the fresh morning air, I felt the wind lift up my hair and the slightly cold air hitting my nose, making it sting slightly.
The summer had ended just about a month or two ago, and it was slowly getting colder every day. Even though California normally wasn't a cold place, it had it tendencies of becoming slightly colder at times.

I followed the road ahead, walking in a fast pace as I listened to some music on my phone.
Completely unaware of my surroundings, with music blasting in my ears occupying my thoughts, I bumped into someone. I immediately took out my headphones. "I am so sorry," I said as I helped the person up onto his feet once again. "I forgot to look where I was going, I'm really sorry."
The boy stood in front of me, a smile attached to his lips and a slight sparkle in his deep brown eyes.
"It's fine," He said, doing a motion with his hand, that people often do when brushing off a conversation that doesn't really matter. "I wasn't paying attention myself." He added on, throwing me a playful smirk.
"Oh, okay then," I gave him a small friendly smile. "I'm Chelsea by the way." I said as I reached out my hand for him to shake.
"Nice to bump into you Chelsea," He winked at me, making me giggle lightly, "I'm Julian."
The boy who stood in front of me was obviously full of life and energy. It's was literally showing, his whole body were kind of sparkling in some kind of way. Not in the Edward Cullen way, but his smile and eyes were so mesmerizing that you could just sense the spark and energy drifting off of him. It was amazing in a way.
"Are you new around here?" He suddenly asked, clearly not wanting to throw a farewell just yet.
I nodded my head at his question. "Yeah," I said. "I just moved in just down the road actually. In that big mansion looking house, if you know which one that is." I laughed.
He had a questioning look on his face. "I know where it is, but I thought the Ryder's lived there?" He asked, his eyes showing confusion. It's like his eyes told his deepest secrets and feelings. I can look right through him, without even knowing him.
"Oh, they do," I smiled before continuing. "Mr. Ryder is my stepfather." I said calmingly. I wasn't embarrassed to tell people, not at all. After all, Phillip made my mom extremely happy, so I was happy too.
"I see," He said lowly. "Anyhow, I better get going. It was nice to meet you Chelsea, maybe we can hang out sometime?" He gave me a friendly smile.
"Sure! It would be nice with a new friend," I returned the smile. "Can I get your number before you get going?" I asked as politely as I possibly could.
"Of course," He said as he motioned for me to hand him my phone, so I did.

Later that evening I decided to text Julian, wanting to find a time to hang out, seeing as I enjoyed bumping into him. Literally.

8:48 PM
Hey Julian,
I was wondering if you would like
to hang out sometime soon?
- Chelsea.

I hesitated a bit before sending the text message, but nonetheless, I did it.
I was nervous for the outcome. Thoughts kept running through my head – What if he thinks I'm weird? What if he was just trying to be polite? And so on.
I was walking around the kitchen waiting for a response. I didn't yet have my own room and still had to share with Brandon, which meant I spent most of my time in the kitchen, seeing as it was the only place, that I had the biggest chance of being alone. Well, maybe except for the bathroom.
"Come on Julian, just answer me already," I murmured under my breath as I sat down on a stool. I lay my head in my arms over the kitchen counter, as I wish for him to answer me.
And not more than a few seconds later, I hear a small bling from my phone, making me jump in my seat of excitement.
I grab my phone from the other side of the counter and unlock it to read the text message.

- From: Julian

Hey Chelsea,
I would love to hang out!
What about the amusement park on
Friday? (:

I squeal out of excitement. Not only do I love the fair, but I may just have gotten a new friend.

The amusement park sounds good!
I'll see you on Friday. (:
