Dick stared at the large bed in front of him, a frown appearing. Do rich people really need this much space? He could probably fit ten people on this bed. "This is stupid..." Dick grumbled as he plopped himself on the bed and turned off the lamp that was on the side table next to his bed. It didn't feel right...this whole situation did not feel right. He did not belong here with Bruce Wayne. He paused slightly, turning so he was now lying on his back and staring at the blank ceiling. Realization hit him not soon after, tears beginning to sting his eyes and dick quickly wiped them away. Bruce had killed the man who wronged him..how was he not happy? How could he not be glad that he avenged his family? Dick sat up, hugging his knees close to his body. Happiness or not, he needed to do this, for his family. Dick squeezed his legs tighter to him, choking back another sob. Here he was, in a new place, with a man who took him in knowing very well what crimes he committed...and feeling completely helpless now that his ideals were crumbling at their very foundation. He didn't want to be here...arkham was more homey than this place..at least the fighting and screaming took his mind off of things..while here in this large empty room, he was left to his own thoughts. It was too quiet...too calm.. Even at the circus, there was always so much life, even at the ungodly hours of the day where most people would be sleeping. HE missed the circus, he missed his family-- Dick squeezed his eyes shut as the familiar image of his parents motionless on the floor resurfaced. "I-I miss you guys so much.." He whispered, taking shaky breaths. He wanted the comfort of his mother, the encouraging words of his father..he wanted to hear them so badly right now, to tell him everything was going to be okay. Dick opened his eyes again to see the empty room surrounding him.

"And we miss you too"

Dick relaxed slightly hearing his mother's voice again. "I wish you were here right now.." Tears now slowly crawling down his face. "I really need you.."

"You have someone now that will help you, there are no need for tears."

Dick scowled quickly going on edge, he did not like where this conversation was going. "No! He will not replace you!" Dick spoke desperately. "I need you! Not him!"

"You will learn to open up to others again my little Robin. You do not need us here anymore to lead you to the right path."

"No! Nononononono!" Dick begged, holding his head shaking violently. "Don't go again! I need you! I NEED YOU!"

"I am proud of you son, we both are. Stay safe, and forgive. Live a happy life, we want you to be happy." His father's voice rung through his head.

"I cannot be happy without you, please!" Dick's voice broke. Please, he did not want his parents to leave for a second time. Even if they were just the voices, even if he knew they were not real..he needed them to stay with him. He needed them to stay and help him though this. "Please...Please please please! Mami, Tati !"

"Don't fade into the darkness. Burn bright, help others... we will always be in your heart little Robin." His mother spoke softly, her voice getting quieter and quieter. "We love you, and we always will."

Dick paused as the silence appeared. He waited and waited for more words to come, but there was nothing. Seconds passed into minutes as Dick sat there in the dark.

-----

Bruce woke up to the sound of mad screaming, something he was not used to on his very rare nights off, though he knew the source of the screaming. He quickly got out of bed and rushed over to the room which held its new resident. He swung open the door "Richard!"

"GO AWAY!!" The boy screamed, grabbing the lamp off of the side table and hurling it at the wall just inches away from the doorway which Bruce stood. "This is all your fault! They are gone and it is your fault!!" Dick began to break down more, right in front of Bruce's eyes, sobbing and screaming for the other just to leave him alone.

Bruce slowly walked over to the bed, ignoring the child's threats and begs for him to leave. He knew that getting used to the new surroundings would be hard on the other, but he had not expected this. He sat on the edge of the bed, staring almost shell shocked at the boy who was desperately now hugging his knees. "Richard.."

"Stop calling me that! I said leave!" Dick's voice broke into more sobs. He didn't want BRuce! He wanted his parents! He wanted to be back home, he wanted to hear his mother sing him to sleep when he was too afraid of the dark when he was at the circus. Why did everything have to change!? "Because of you they are gone! They said I didn't need them anymore! I NEED THEM!"

Bruce stared at dick again, assessing the situation. Them..he must meant his parents...but what does it mean they left him? The voices? He slowly, and hesitantly, placed a hand on the child's shoulder, who had flinched away for a brief second but then stayed put. "You need to look beyond the past, there is a good life awaiting you if you just look forward--"

"Shut up!" Dick glared. "You are not my Dad! This is not my home!" He did not want to hear it anymore. "I will not forget them!"

"I am not asking you to forget your parents." Bruce said sternly, which took the boy by surprise a bit and frozen in fear at how cold and harsh the other's voice had sounded. "I am not asking you to forget what happened, or forget where you came from." Bruce continued, eyes never leaving Dick's. "All I am saying is that you should take it and use it to make yourself a stronger person.Your parents would not want you to live in the past."

"H...How would you know that.." Dick mumbled. Why did Bruce sound just like them a moment ago..this was not fair..Dick felt more tears well up. "How do you know that I will not forget them if I move on? How do you know?" He could not let go.. He was afraid of completely losing his parents.

"Because they live inside of you." Bruce placed a hand on the boy's chest. "They live inside and know that you will shine so brightly even though it is dark. They loved you." Bruce finished to find himself once again in a surprisingly strong hug of Dick.

"I...I want them to be proud..I want them to be proud of me..." He cried, hugging tighter.

"They already are ,chum. " Bruce pulled the other away so he can look into the boy's eyes once more. "Because you are slowly moving on."
