Highway run

Into the midnight sun

Wheels go round and round

You’re on my mind

Restless hearts

Sleep alone tonight

Sending all my love

Along the wire

They say that the road

Aint no place to start a family

Right down the line

It’s been you and me

And lovin a music man

Aint always what it’s supposed to be

Oh, girl, you stand by me

I’m forever yours

Faithfully

I was frozen in anticipation as I listened to him sing. So proud of him for doing this. It had taken a lot of guts to get onto that stage, I knew. I’d been standing here once before, years ago.

Circus life

Under the big top world

We all need the clowns

To make us smile

Through space and time

Always another show

Wondering where I am

Lost without you

And being apart

Aint easy on this love affair

Two strangers learn to fall in love again

I get the joy of rediscovering you

Oh, girl, you stand by me

I’m forever yours

Faithfully

Whooa, oh-oh-ooh

Whooa, oh-oh-ooh, oh

Whooa, oh-oh-oh, oh-whoooooa-oh

Faithfully

I’m still yours

I’m forever yours

Ever yours

Faithfully

“Calm down,” Harry jokes, giving my shoulder a shake as I watch from off stage.

“Sorry, I’m just so excited for him! I hope he gets through,” I half whisper, bouncing on the balls of my feet as I watch the judges.

“Well if Simon was still on the panel he’d put him through for sure.”

“Shhh-“ I say, slapping a hand over his mouth so I could hear the judge’s criticism. He chuckles beneath my hand, sliding it off his mouth as he interlaces our fingers.

“I think Abby is even more nervous than you are,” he whispers quietly in my ear and I glance quickly at the girl standing on the brink of the stage, her hands clasped together looking like she was about to be sick.

“That’s four yeses you’re through,”

“Yes!” I shout, jumping onto Harry as Caellum lets out a whoop on stage. He comes running off stage, a huge grin on his face as he swoops Abby, his girlfriend of 8 months, up in a bear hug, spinning her around and planting a kiss on her lips. He sets her down before turning to me and giving me a hug. I bury my head in his chest, marveling at how much he’d grown in the past 10 years.

“I’m so proud of you Cae, mum and dad would be so proud.” I whisper.

“Thanks Mae,” he says pulling away and turning to Harry.

“Great job,” Harry tells him as he hugs him in congratulations.

“Thanks for the song recommendation,” Caellum replies. They release each other and Cae turns back to his girlfriend, pulling her into another hug.

“I heard you gave him quite the advice yesterday,” I say softly, leaning against Harry as we watch the two.

“It’s possible,” he murmurs, traces of amusement evident in his voice.

“You told him not to believe a word that comes out of her mouth if she tries to break up with him because us girls turn into stupid liars in fear of your greatness?” I tease.

“Well it’s true,” he replies with a smirk.

“Oh shut up,” I say, whacking him on the chest. “We turned out alright.”

“That we did,” he agrees with a smile. I look back over at the young couple. The similarities between the two pairs were amazing. Caellum had grown up to be a lot like Harry. He cared more about music than he ever did about school and had taught himself how to play a variety of instruments. Abby was a lot like I was. Book smart and more likely to go to the library than to go to the mall. But they worked. Just like Harry and I had. In some weird messed up way where they pulled each other out of their comfort zones.

“Do you think they’ll be ok through all of it?” I ask Harry. I was sure Caellum would make it through the X Factor with flying colors. He was going to be the next big thing, I was sure. I was worried for Abby about the hate that might be sent to her. I know that it wore on me sometimes, no matter how hard I tried to be strong.

“They’ll be fine,” he assures me. “We were after all,” he adds. “It just took a bit of time to figure out.”

“You’re right,” I acknowledge, my hand trailing to my swollen stomach. 4 months left until the first member of our family would make his or her grand appearance. I wouldn’t want to change anything anyways. I wouldn’t do anything different if I did had the chance to do it all over again.

And there we go. The song was Faithfully by Journey if you haven't heard of it. I posted the video of Boyce Avenue's cover because I love them. Let me know what you think. :)
