Before Michael could reach his destination, Isabella stood to her feet and met him half way.  "What's wrong?"  She fished for his eyes but he kept them on Prince.  "Hey!"

Michael looked at her and fought an urge to glance back Prince's way.  "I was worried, that's all."

     "We were just talking.  Relax."

Michael's laugh pierced the tension between them.  "I'm fine."  He turned his back to her but failed to get anywhere as Isabella grasped his arm. "What?" he said, questioning her hold on him.

Prince made his way past them with a humorous grin on his face but failed to gain them as an audience.

"You're not mad, are you?" she asked Michael.

"Honestly, for a moment, I was.  But then I realized there's no commitment here.  So how could I be?  Right?"  Michael used a bit of force that time to shake Isabella off of him.

Fragility quickly masked her heart as the view of Michael's back stretched out farther and farther.  Within a blink of an eye, he was lost in the grooving crowd.

Isabella never imagined anything like this could bring her mood down to the point of wanting to leave.  Not on this special night for her friend; not this early.  But she didn't want to approach Michael with an apology and make a scene.  So she had no choice but to sulk and paint herself a phony smile for the coming hours.

Angel managed to escape from the turntables to check on her best friend.  Angel had been watching Isabella warming up an empty table's chair.  None of the passing concerned guests managed to stay long.

Angel felt Isabella jolt a little as she stalked up next to her.  Kneeling on the side of her, Angel asked, "What's wrong, babe?"

Isabella laughed, watching the last drops of her wine swirl in her lipstick smeared glass.  "I'll tell you later."

Angel leaned forward to hear her better.

"Nothing serious.  I'm just being a baby."

"Well, cheer up!" she snapped.  "We're about to do the cake cutting and stuff."

Isabella rolled her eyes, put the glass to her lips and threw her head back.

Angel snatched the empty glass from Isabella and set it on the table.  "Come on, skank."

"I'm not drunk."  Isabella slid her hands in Angel's and was pulled up to her feet without a stagger.  "See.  Don't be calling me names."

"Go find Nik and stop being a brat.  Whatever Michael did or said will be dealt with later.  You know that man isn't going anywhere."
