And thus ends my little experiment. Was it groundbreaking? Of course not. Was it fun? Yeah, I'd say so (at least writing it was).
Some of you are probably thinking, "What? That's it? It ends like that?" To which I say, yes. Yes, it does. The last thing I wanted was to wrap it up cleanly. Does she forgive him and they continue on an ultimately vapid high school romance? Does it strengthen their budding relationship into something that lasts forever? Does it only mark the beginning of Colin's horrible decision making for the rest of his life? I'm leaving that for you to decide. Does he deserve a second chance? I'm leaving that in your able minds, dear reader.
For my part, I think Colin does not wind up getting the girl. While she takes the high road and gives him a chance to befriend her, that's as far as it gets. They graduate and go separate ways, become different people. Eventually they meet again at their high school reunion with Colin feeling utterly embarrassed and drunkenly apologizing profusely again.
Needless to say, my version of the ending/future for the characters isn't all that fun. Feel free to see it another way.
Thank you for following along. Until next time!
