Not part of the plan

"Are you sure this is a good idea, I mean what about school, work, my little sister? I wasn't serious, well I was but now I'm having second thoughts." I herd my sister say over the phone. I noticed her wake up and she probably thought I was still asleep. I herd her argue more of her case and then hang up her phone. I was standing in her door way and saw that she started to walk my so I quietly ran down the hall into my room and into my bed and pretended to be asleep.

My sister opened my door and said "Haily I know your awake, and was probably listening to my whole conversation."

I sat up and just looked at my sister  and waited for her to fully explain what is going on. She sat at the end of my bed and continued, "Delilah, Mathew and me are running away, but I said that I'm not going with out asking you if you wanted to come?"

"Run away? Go where? How do you plan to-? and just- What?" I stuttered. What would Veronica even be running away from. She has everything, good grades, a boyfriend, she is wildly popular, and she is Mom and Dads favorite kid.

"We have a plan. We have been planing this for a while now. We have saved up money and we're going to take some camping supplies, and go to Walmart to get some food."

"Where are you going?"

"Anywhere, and everywhere. We are just going to camp at night and travel America."

"And you don't think your going to get caught?"

"Well we are leaving our phones, cars, and credit cards so they can't track us. So are you coming?"

I thought for a while and why not run away. I've already been in California for over a month and I haven't made any friends. Well It's not like I had that many friends in Michigan anyways.

I got up and put on some jeans, and a Michigan hoodie over the large t-shirt I was wearing. I put my hair in a pony tail and grabbed my back pack I took everything out of it accept a notebook and a pen. I took some more warm clothes out of my closet and grabbed a large wad of cash I had stored under my bed. Then I looked at my sister and told her I was ready.

"Are you sure? We aren't coming back. For anything."

"Yes I'm already."

My sister nodded got off my bed and we went over to her room, where she kept her bag. "Can I just ask you a question Veronica?" I spoke up.

"Yeah Haily."

"Why are you running away?"

"Because, Haily"

"And your friends where just ready to pack up and go with you?"

"I guess. Can you just stop with the questions? Your lucky I even asked you to come."

I stopped talking and we went into the garage to grab sleeping bags, when we were done we walked back through the house and out the front door to where Mathew and Delilah were waiting for us. Veronica kissed her boyfriend and me and Delilah just stood there awkwardly. Delilah doesn't like me vary much and I could tell that she didn't want me to come by the look she was giving me.

"So the kid did want to come?" Delilah spoke up.

Veronica came up for air to see what her best friend was talking about. Then she said,"yeah and if you have a problem with it you don't have to come."

I was happy because my sister didn't defend me often so when she did I felt good. Then Mathew joined in and said, "and it's not like she is a little kid she's in high school. I think. You are in high school, right kid?"

I just nodded. I could tell he was trying to stick up for me but he didn't do vary good. There was an awkward silence and Veronica broke it when she said, "Well lets get in the car."

"I thought we weren't taking a car. If we take a car they can find us." I said in more of a panic then I meant to. Its just if we are going to found, then whats the point of running away.

"Relax we are only taking the car to Walmart," Delilah corrected with attitude.

The drive to Walmart was filled with music I don't like. Every other song was drake and I'm not really a fan of rap music, but I just stayed quite. I was starting to think this was a bad idea.

It took some time but we finally got to Walmart. We went strait to the food. All we grabbed was packaged food and some canned stuff. Then we went to buy baby wipes and deodorant. While we were walking to the check out line I saw a kid that goes to my school. His name was Sean, and he was in my gym class. I didn't really know him that much but I thought he was really cute. I liked his glasses and hair.

"Hey Matt, What are you doing at Walmart at 3 in the morning, and why do you guys have a bunch of camping gear, and why does it look like you guys are running away? Oh my god are you running away? You can't run away? Yo-" Sean rambled, but was cut off by Mathew.

"What are you doing at Walmart at three in the morning?"

"My mom is pregnant again and she got a craving for orange juice. You didn't answer my question, are you guys running away?" Sean continued.

We all just sorta looked at each other as to say is it OK to tell him. I couldn't help it I was too uncomfortable, so I just started laughing, but stopped when Delilah gave me a terrifying look. She looked like she was going to kill me. Then Sean did something I didn't expect. He smirked an then said, "Can I come."

Delilah imminently answered with no, but Mathew imminently said yes. And again they both said their answer at the same time. Delilah spoke up again and said, "Haily wasn't even supposed to come, and know you want this kid to come."

"Delilah you weren't supposed to come either, but I said you could because you are my best friend, so yes Sean you can come" Veronica answered. And I giggled again because Delilah's surprised face was so funny.

"Besides Sean is cool" Mathew said.

"Yay, I'm cool" Sean said with an adorable happy face.

We had to stop by Sean's house so he could get clothes and drop off the orange juice for his pregnant mother. When he got back in the car he attempted to make conversation. "So, are all of you seniors or just Matt?" No one herd him but me because of the music. I thought it was pretty obvious that I was not a senior but I answered anyways. "Yeah he is. Veronica and Delilah are jurors." I Didn't want to say my age. I don't really know why I just didn't.

He nodded and then said, "I think you're in my gym class are you a sophomore too?"I looked away from him and said the truth which was"no. A freshman"

--------

The car stopped on a street that I didn't recognize and my sister said to grab as much stuff as we could. We did and then got out of the car and started to walk to a bus-stop. By now it was probably 5 in the morning and the first bus of the day came by. We got on and payed our fair.
