Magic of the Past

Introduction

Hey, my name is Andreas. I was born in Thillwood, a city north of the big city of Kremsted. Kremsted used to be a special place, known for its magical events that nobody could ever explain. This changed in the last years. For some reason there randomly were no more special events from one to another day and nobody had any idea what happened. Some say it was caused by the change of king, which happened a couple months earlier. The doubt in the new king had caused some kind of rebellious movements to form in the peaceful city. Luckily, it's still just as peaceful as ever before up here in Thillwood. I couldn't imagine living inside those horrors in the big city that's slowly falling apart. I am afraid though, what if their rage spreads? What if they take over the throne and turn this beautiful place into a nightmare? I hope I will never find out and that the soldiers of the king keep them away, until we found the real problem for the mystery we have to deal with. Motivated by my curiosity I started my own research on what the problem could be. I'm stuck right now though, since I clearly don't know enough about the secrets of the city. Personally, I'd say the magic must have had a source somewhere in the city, maybe some kind of ancient gem or statue that got stolen or torn down. Anyways, it might take months, if not years with the knowledge I have now to solve our mystery. Because of that i have decided to go to the city, together with an old friend. His name is John and I used to go fishing with him. The reason I want to go into the big city, is that there might be things to see there, that I hadn't thought about yet. It will also help to get a new map in there, since the only map I have here was drawn by my grandfather, about 40 years ago. Back then it was the most accurate map of this kingdom and he got pretty known for his amazing skills. Now nobody really talks about him anymore though. Knowing that, the city must have changed a lot as well. I haven't been in there since I was about 4 and I am 24 now. It's gonna take long to go to Kremsted though, because we don't have many horses up here so we will have to walk there. A three day walk, waiting for us to be ready. I honestly think it's better to walk anyways, since it will make us look less suspicious. It's long after sunset though so I decided to stop my research for now and I went to sleep.
