Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer were seated at a table at the place where I worked--well, I had two jobs. One was at the Brew, and the other was here. The Apple Rosegrille.

"Dakota," my boss said. "Counters."

"Got it," I said, walking over and starting to clean everything on the counters, putting things up and then making it spotless. I needed extra money because my mom had none, and my dad had serious gambling issues and always lost, and bleeding us dry. That's why I worked extra hard on the two jobs that I had.

I was almost done when I heard a cane clicking against the floor.

Jenna was there, and I kept thinking about the Jenna thing, and I looked over to the table that Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer were, and they looked back at me. I looked back at my boss. "Done. Can I go now?"

"Yeah. Take off, have a nice night."

"Thanks," I said, walking after them as they started to leave.

We didn't stick together, though. Hanna and Emily were walking in one direction but two seperate ways, and Spencer and Aria were doing the same thing, and I walked in a straight line for my car and got in, driving home.

I was at work again, very early morning shift before school started, the Brew, when Emily walked in with a girl. "Hey, Dakota," she called, and I looked up, smiling, and walking over.

"Hey."

"This is Maya," she said, looking over to her friend.

She had told me about her. "You moved into Alison's house."

"Yeah," she said with a small smile. "And forever known as the new girl."

I smiled at that. "Don't worry. I'm always a new girl too."

"You move a lot?"

"Oh, yeah."

"Military family?"

I shook my head, but didn't tell her why I moved a lot, looking away. "Can I get you guys anything?"

"Caffeine," Emily said. "I need a buzz before school starts."

I nodded. "What'll it be?"

I was closing my locker at school when I heard, "Will the following students please come to the office," over the intercom at school. "Emily Fields, Aria Montgomery, Spencer Hastings, Hanna Marin, Dakota McCoy."

All of us were in the same hall, looking at each other and starting to walk for the office when Aria's phone ringer went off, and she said, "Wait. It's from A. Dead girls walking."

Oh, God, I thought, all of us starting to walk for the office, sitting next to each other in there as Detective Wilden paced, looking at us. "So let's see," he said, stopping and flipping through pages in a folder before pointing at Spencer. "You thought you heard her scream."

"I said that, yeah," Spencer said.

"And when you four woke up in the barn," he said to Aria, Emily, Hanna and me, "Alison was gone, and so was Spencer?"

"Yes, I woke up before them and I realized that Ali was missing, so I--" Spencer was cut off.

"So you went looking for her," Wliden finished, sitting on the desk.

"That's what happened."

"I got that. So what's up? Was this a slumber party, or . ."

"Is this an interrogation?" Spencer asked.

"No, just a routine follow up," Wilden said. "Why did you guys all fall asleep?"

Uh, because we were drunk. I wasn't gonna say that out loud. "I guess we were tired," I said, my voice sounding like I was about to say duh.
