"Here's some ice." Beatrice said handing me a ice pack to place on my wrist.
"How even do you fall asleep while smoking?" She questioned adding a few snorts between her laughs. "Is this gonna scar?" I asked placing the ice against it then cried out in pain.
"I wouldn't know." She murmured still giggling. "I never fell asleep wh-" She continued laughing. "Never fell asleep while smoking." I laughed with her as the wall helped me up and I walked to the big round mirror attached to bright green walls to look at myself.
"Ahh." I said looking at my dark circles. I continued to glance at my face until I saw Samia approaching in the distance dragging her purse behind her. "It's 1 am. Let's go." She said as she passed by me. I nodded my head and told Samia I'd be out in 20. I turned around to see Beatrice throwing herself back on the ground and light a cigarette.
"Aren't you gonna head home?" I said pinning my back against the cold walls.
"Home? Right!!" She took a long drag from the cigarette and I watched the thick smoke block her view.
"Sadie." She said taking the cigarette from her two fingers and putting it out. "I kinda am home, hun." She took a long pause between her words to cough. "I shouldn't be around you anyways, last night I'm guessing you smoked for the first time? I don't want you to be influenced-" She took another pause to cough. "You don't want to end up like me. Addicted to cigarettes and unable to go a day without going through half a pack at least so just go home and maybe we'll see each otha again."
She was right. At times, I would be influenced by people around me. But I've never been a A+ student overall. I still had priorities and goals though that I found as a must to work and achieve. Something in me wanted to stop caring, just wanted to live the present and not worry about the future because wouldn't that be great?
"Oh." I sighed. I really wanted to be friends with Beatrice. She seemed so fun and overall a person who I needed. All it really had been since I moved to New York was go to school, go home and sometimes hang out with Samia. Although Samia is the complete opposite of me and would strike you as someone who'd try to encourage you to party and basically be like her, she wasn't. I'm pretty sure she only brought me to this party because her mom wouldn't let her go otherwise. As I stood in front of Beatrice, I thought of the million things I could experience if I hung with Beatrice.
"Yeah . . ." She took another long pause to let all the mucus out and jumped up from the floor, having me up after her. Her hands fell to her side when she took a look at her phone. She put out her hand to me. I continued to stand still and stare at her hand then back at her exasperate expression. She grabbed my hand, and I allowed myself to be dragged into a room full of cigarette butts, beer, magazines, unfolded clothes, and a little mattress.
"Shh." She said when I tried moving my mouth.
"Get in the bed, and hide under the covers." She watched me stand still as I tried to move my lips for my words to come out.
"I'll explain later. Just please . . I'm doing this to help you." I jumped under the covers. All I heard at that point was my heavy breathing. I was layered in warmth, and was wrapped in a rush of nervousness. I placed my hand on the covers to lift it up when I heard a deep voice speak that had me pull the blankets back over me so fast. "Babe." The voice said.
"How many times have I told you to not throw parties in my house?" A guy asked calmly but my heart was still beating at the same pace it would beat when I checked if I had the correct lottery numbers.
"Undress me. Touch me everywhere with ease. Everywhere." Beatrice said making kissing noises. I moved the blanket a little to the side to get a look at who she was speaking to. Beatrice moved closer to the guy and lowered her lips. Her lips reached his jaw giving him a deep, long, and powerful kiss.
