Chapter 4
The walk from the classroom to the nurse's office was mainly awkward silence. Jace kept looking at Clara and when Clara noticed Jace looking at her he looked away. Then Clara would smile and look away too.
Jace and Clara got to the nurse's office. Jace helped Clara sit down and went and told the nurse what had happened. The nurse got up from her chair and walked to Clara.
"Can you move your wrist? The nurse asked trying move Clara's wrist.
"No," Clara said with a cringe on her face, "It hurts to move it at all."
"Oh ok, well let's wrap it up and put ice on it. Hopefully that will help." The nurse said in a cheerful voice. Jace was still standing when the nurse asked, "Here you can sit next to her while I get some bandages and ice." Pointing to Jace. Jace looked at Clara and Clara looked at him. She was looking at his wonderful deep blue eyes. He sat next to her trying not to bump into her wrist.
When Jace had sat down Clara kept thinking, "Ok so he has helped me, he keeps smiling at me, and now he is sitting next to me, what is going on. Does he like me and wants to talk to me or what?" Clara wanted to say something to him but couldn't think of what to talk about.
Finally Clara's iPhone went off and was vibrating. Clara grabbed it out of her pocket with her other hand. Faith and Jessie was texting her like crazy. All the messages said the exact same thing. Jessie and Faith kept asking if Clara was ok and how was it talking to Jace. Clara had read all their messages and replyed, "I'm fine and it's kinda awkward with Jace. The nurse told him he can sit next to me and I'm not sure what to say to him!"
"Here you go sweetie," the nurse said walking over with a lot of bandages and a small bag of ice,"Put the ice here and should make the swelling go down. Then just prop it up and it should be fine." Clara finally felt pain go away.
