Who Are You?

Who are you?

Are you a scream,

a shout,

a call into space?

Are you your weight,

your grades,

your numbers?

Are you a broken battered bird,

trying to fly without wings?

Are you your hair colour?

Are you your eye colour?

Are you your skin colour?

Are you the words that people whisper when they believe you can't hear?

Are you the ragged clothes that you wear?

No.

You are the songs that blast through your ear buds

on those rainy Monday mornings,

You are the laughs and the smiles

that your favourite jokes give you,

You are what goes on in your brain

when you cannot hold onto reality anymore.

You are your Saturday brunch

with your favourite TV shows,

You are your tracks in the snow,

You are God's most amazing creation.

You are the melodies

that leave your fingertips,

You are the things that you love,

You are a tiny undefinable speck

in this vast and wonderful Universe.

You are everything you do,

You are everything you say,

You are everything you write.

But in the end, you are only human.

You were meant to arrive,

to thrive

and to die.

You were meant to be all the things you are,

and none of the things you are not.

That is

Who you are.

and everything comes to an end.

thank you to everyone who has read/voted/commented on my little poetry collection, and I hope with all my heart that what I have written here has helped you positively in some way. or, at least, provoked a thought or a feeling. as long as it made you feel alive.

i will be starting a new poetry collection very soon, because I literally cannot function without one. I have also published a story made up entirely of unwritten excerpts called "unwritten", and I would love if you checked it out!

you are amazing and i love you and God bless :)
